Why don't they just add 10 hp, like what they did with the rsx type-s.

Honestly with our modern technology and economy, I don't see why a company like Toyota can't listen to the demand of its customers a little faster.

You'd pay five grand for ten more factory HP?

Tada himself has stated they are testing out different power options and he hopes to update the current gen platform at least once:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43831

Mid-cycle refresh would be the obvious time to do it, assuming the platform gets a significant update mid-cycle.

It will come down to money and sales. No assumptions. I happen to have more history with the car than you and you may want to do your research next time you jump to conclusions.

OP - does that document confirm whether the new FR-S gets "the incredible 2-bolt-flange upgrade of MY 2015"? Logically it would have to extend across the full production range...

I am happy I didn't wait, would I like some of the monogram feats sure but it can be done aftermarket. If I want more power I can go innovative, vortech, kraftworks and the list goes on and on. I like having the option to do what I want. You spend on your time waiting for the next big thing you will never enjoy anything

This is such a low volume car compared to the rest of Toyota/Subaru's lineup that they need to sell this thing for a few years as is before investing the money for more power etc.

It is more or less like an upside down airplane wing optimized for low drag since no lift is required, just some down force.

Seriously? Sounds like the White House wrote this crap

I don't see the point of limited edition models considering its all just regular FR-S glamoured up with things you can probably get anyways from the aftermarket world. On top of that limited edition models will have higher collector's value some 20+ years in the future assuming low mileage and great condition etc etc. But let's face it even if you bought the Monogram or 10 series you're gona end up modding it anyways and that defeats the purpose of limited edition collectibles.

Now customizing your own FR-S/Brz that to me is more limited edition since the car is now designed after your tastes and style which is unique to each own whether or not the public likes or dislikes.

I am buying a car next year and the FR-S is top of my list. I intensely research when i purchase and will continue to.

Anyway I don't know about the legitimacy of this site but this is the second site I have seen saying that there will be 18" Aluminum/Carbon Fiber wheels on the GT86. http://www.newcarsrelease2015.com/20...ta-gt86-coupe/ I know the FR-S usually shares most major componants with just comfort items being the difference. But I believe that the wheels have been the same since 2012 in European to America models of GT86, BRZ, and FR-S if I'm not mistaken. Also it states dual exhaust tips in place of the single and shock dampening and steering box or EPS assist change for sharper steering.

Quote's from Toyota 86’s chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, "The updated 2015 model 86 will have crisper steering response and less body roll thanks to the damper tweaks, and the fact that the rear dampers are now directly attached to the body, improving dynamic control".

“GT86 is all about driver involvement, and we are committed to keep enhancing this aspect of the car,” said Tada of the rear-wheel drive car, which reignited interest in affordable sports cars (and Toyota design) when it arrived in Australia in June 2012.

“We decided to change the way how suspension parts - including the rear shock absorbers - are attached to the chassis. This increases body rigidity, hence adds to better handling stability and response,” said Tada.

“Shock absorbers were also retuned. We used a new technology for stabilising damping force, and we improved friction control and responsiveness,” he added.
The car now gives the driver “that extra bit of control, especially when the car is driven on the limit,” said Tada, who also confirmed a handful of “subtle” cosmetic changes will distinguish the 2015 models from their progenitors".

Couldn't agree more, the limited editions are pointless. I like modding myself and making it my own. Instead of all the limited editions they should have had all of these as factory add on's giving people the choice of what they wanted. The more you add the more the cost, they still would have had there base model which still would keep them in the price braket they where trying to stay in espically considering in other countries the car came with all of these options to begin with.
