You don't have the VIN?

You can look up where it is, last service record, if it was totaled, etc.

True if they did recover it if it was still in one piece it was probably auctioned off.

True. I guess I'll know when the first check arrives. I'm going to dig through old records this weekend to see if I can find something with the VIN.

Glad to hear that you are getting money, hopefully you will save/spend it wisely. And good part on the boyfriend role with keeping your girlfriend calm haha.

Interesting read OP,suppose it's good to have "something" as opposed to nothing coming your way.

My 2nd car was stolen (1994) and the insurance paid out $10k but I still owed $2k.

Cool story bro. It is so frustrating that people will steal cars like this. We work so hard for these things and they think they can just waltz by and take it. I'm glad he got caught and is in prison.

great read, it is nice to see forum members posting worth-while posts and not posts like;
" what color dildo shift knob should I install, does everyone approve? If not I'll do it anyways"

Quite refreshing to finally get partial justice.....

Quick update.
Got a check. $462! The date on this check was 4/14 so I am assuming its a culmination of every payment thus far. There was no documentation other than the check itself, which only said "restitution order 1/28/2008", So it may very well be everything from the last 4 years. We'll see if anything else shows up over the coming months...

I know where the info is but it's a little difficult to get to. I'm no hoarder, but since we've had a baby our third bedroom (which is in transition from an office to a playroom) has become a stash-all. And the file cabinet is in the far corner, lol
