Washed her tonight and noticed serious road rash all over the bumper. Anyone else hammered by old man winter?

I've never had a clear bra. This car has taken a beating more than any other I've owned. It's also been a bad winter here. I think it's a combination of weak crappy clearcoat/paint and a rough winter.

I've never had one either, until this car. The winter here was brutal, and my bumper looks brand new. IMO it's a must for these cars.

You think it's the quality of the paint?

It's the quality of all recent paint, not just Subaru. Water based and soft.

.

The main reason I won't ever own another new black car; the front ends look like crap if you don't clear bra them, so much more than other colors.

My WRB has been better than average. Of course I get chips here and there, but nothing like on my last black car. Just within the last few weeks I got a bunch of new chips that I plan to repair. I'm just thankful I don't see the thousands of speckles.

I have 12k miles and my front end looks great IMO, I'll take a close-up pic of you want

Yes. I'm keeping it. The repair job is amazing. The only part replaced is the hood and it is just cosmetic so I figure the loss is not too bad and if I sell it in 5 years when it is paid off the loss in value is not going to be big.

It's only cosmetic damage. The car still drives as it did before.

When I get it back I will post before and after pictures. Once they do the hood there will be very little evidence that there was ever any damage.

This guy does magic.

Got my paint color corrected! Took 8-10 hours for the whole job, I gotta say it felt like a million bucks driving it home.

Put on TRD style spoiler, OE style rear diffuser, and STI rear aprons Sat until light ran out, I'm finishing the job with STI skirts and front lip later this morn or early afternoon. Happy Easter to me, and to ALL of you as well.

It's also mainly because the car is so damn low.

Definitely this too but the actual make up of paint has changed. I've had older cars that were much lower and barely had any marks on the front bumper after years of driving.
