Depends on the application. AutoX and street driving in traffic I'd go light. Highspeed track is all about stability and power so weight is less important.

There is no such thing as a single right answer. You have to pick the right tool for the right job which means picking from a set of compromises. That's why some of us have more than one car.

If you're saying that above certain speeds, power becomes critical to overcome aero drag, I agree with that. Lower horsepower cars won't accelerate well as speeds increase because of the exponentially increasing aero factor, no matter how lightweight they are.

I'm a bit jealous whenever I see a Miata pass by with its top down, but I prefer the appearance and handling of the twin.
