Especially if they brought back the mr2 spyder, might give a hint hint nudge nudge at a certain car company to bring back the s2000... Updated ![]() With a hint of? ![]() Yes,please. ![]() They could sell it to all the people who want the luxury sports car look, but for a budget. DO IT,TOYOTA. Also bring back the Celica. The best thing Toyota could do with Scion is just kill it ASAP. It's a pointless, failed brand, only the FR-S is keeping it afloat these days.

The Scion experiment could have continued, but they kept ****ing it up. Just like GM did with Saturn. Scion still has a chance, whereas Saturn had no chance before it was shuttered (when GM in its infinite wisdom though rebadging cars for the Saturn brand was a good idea.....)
Kia still has the Soul cuz its better than the xB (and pretty much every other car that the xB competition spawned. Like the Honda Element and the Nissan Cube), plus it is more akin to the original xB than the current xB is. the current xB lost everything about it that made the original xB a success. Small, very roomy, great gas mileage, cheap. It has since exploded into Corolla sized 'big', still roomy, fat, sucky gas mileage, and it hasn't changed at all since it was introduced. Bring back the original xB (the one that started the whole curb appeal of boxes....) with the reasons for it to exist in the first place and I think the xB can bounce back. the xD is useless. It overlaps with the Yaris. Kill it, it has no purpose. I see Yaris everywhere, but I don't see any xD's. The iQ...well its niche, it can stay, its not expected to sell volumes. However, it needs to be cheaper (why get it when its almost the same price as a base corolla or Yaris?) and it needs a more frugal engine (Dunno if the 1.0 would be any good for NA...its pretty puny, but the 1.3 needs an overhaul. Maybe those new ones that Toyota intro'd recently could help) And give it a manual box, I think a manual could boost sales, its surely a car that could benefit from it (looks like it could be a blast to drive with a stick). I'm pretty sure a price reduction would make this car much more desirable. FRS...well it did boost Scion's appeal. tC....I think its doing OK, but not gangbusters, but its selling. However I do question whether they should kill it and just make a 2 door Corolla instead...... I definitely think that if the Celica came back that the tC and the Celica would just cannibalize each other. Theres no room for both of them. Replace the xD's slot with a mini truck (smaller than Tacoma) or mini offroad SUV (like those FJ40's) or maybe a mini-minivan (like that old Dihatsu Hyjet). Heck kill the tC, resurrect the Celica as a proper Toyota (or make a 2 door Corolla, again as a Toyota) and you have an extra slot for one of the above 3 suggestions. Then Scion becomes a pretty cool Niche brand that doesn't need to push volume to sell. If they want to keep it currently as a 5 car lineup. xB = Original box, not for everyone. FRS = small inexpensive sports car. iQ = city car for the urbanite, a better smart car than Smart cars. Mini truck = For those who thinks those 80's Tacomas/Nissans were the right size and don't need anything more Mini offroader SUV = If Wranglers and FJ cruisers are too big and they want a proper SUV that's not a CUV and was sized like the FJ40's, wranglers, or Bronco's of yore. Mini minivan = Appeals to those hippies who want a modern VW Microbus I guess lol. And with the gas mileage being a major concern nowadays, small cars of all kinds could see some sales potential. And if an MR2 or supra or Celica gets resurrected, they could stay as Toyotas. |

My '13 FR-S is fucking awesome just as it is. LOL that Toyota is going to fuck it up. I consider myself fortunate to have one.

Kids want what adults have. Toyota just needs to build great cars and release them as Toyota or Lexus.

Think of it this way, the normal FR-s are going to be the limited editions sought by car collectors years from now.

I'm not sure why people hate Scion so much. Perhaps I am still hopelessly in love with my 2006 xB that I traded in. Personally, I liked the original ones and I even told the salesperson when I bought my FR-S that if for some miracle they brought back the first gen xB the FR-S would be traded back in in a heartbeat. He told me about the new ones and I told him "ew" for the reasons Sasquachulator listed above.
What I really want is the AWD bB with a manual transmission over here in the states.. |

He's busy counting beans.
He and senior management think at least five years out. They've stated that the US market share won't be growing at pre-recession double digit rates and instead are looking toward China and India as their main areas of opportunity. I'm just happy that they're continuing to support Scion well into the future and have a captive finance arm to support sales when interest rates eventually rise again. Oh, and they already announced in trade publications that the next Tacoma that will be revealed later this year will be downsized. |

Not sure what "our age" is in your reference, but assuming you mean somewhere between 18 and 25, it was the same then as it is now. "We" could afford the cars only because they built them in huge numbers, and "we" bought them used, 3 to 10 years later, same as happens today. The list price looks cheap when compared to today but the ratio to income was the same or worse. $4000 in 1969 was worth is equivalent to about $26,000 today. A base Camaro sold for around $3600 and a ZL1 was somewhere around $7,000. ($46,000 in 2014). (Using an average inflation rate of 4.27% a year)
