My BRZ had some chirping in the beginning. I use only 93 octane fuel and if possible try to avoid the stations that add ethanol, although it is hard to find. Now I don't hear it it anymore. It is a 2.0 litre engine, so if you expect it to sound like a V-8 at idle speed, it will NEVER happpen.

The V-8 has a finite life expectancy. It won't be long before most average price cars all use 4cyl engines with turbo and the normal aspirated V-8 will be priced in the luxury class. Even Ford is in the process of making a V-8 Mustang an expensive commodity.... if it isn't there already. Even McLaren's new car is an electric powered hybrid that works much like the Chevy Volt.....but in a Supercar, not a mass produced model. The highpowered V-8 will soon become an item for those with more money......and will eventually leave the realm of affordability. Even Pickup Trucks are going the way of Ecoboost type engines, slowly but surely. The V-8 option is slowly fading away in the realm of affordability for the average buyer. It is a trend controlled by economics that the car companies have no choice but to follow.

I took mine for the chirping, service tech said my car already has the latest fuel pump, I'll just have to wait for a recall. (got the car at the end of July 20130.
