STOP RICING OUT THESE CARS.

But I guess stupid(imo) people buy riced out cars now adays, so whatever. The only impact it will have is a decrease in sales at Pep-boys Racing and Walmart Auto-Tuners
There have always been special editions since Scion's introduction in 2003. It seems that the Scion name is catching a lot of flak from some users, and most of them are first timers to the brand because of the FR-S.

There is nothing majorly wrong with how Scion executes their lineup, Don't blame them for Toyota's higher up mistake, of branding the 86 under the Scion name. Although I do not agree with it, it was to be expected. Toyota want's the Scion brand to succeed. This has caused a lot of confusion because some of the "first timers" are only here because of the popularity of the 86. The Scion philosophy has always been about attracting younger buyers with an inexpensive, economical, fun car, (the middle a category that the FR-S has trouble fitting into.) So it's only natural for people to blame Scion for their decisions, but they have always been that way - and it has, for the most part, always worked. I loved my tC and the Release Series models did nothing but good things-add fun and options for owners.

However, I think we are unfortunate to have the 86 branded under the Scion name. Almost all of the Scion models were North American exclusive or made from concepts and manufactured solely for NA. (I know the tC starting selling under the Zelas model for the second gen overseas)The 86 is different in the fact that it's a true Toyota model in Japan. Also, I strongly feel that Scion does a terrible job at advertising and promoting this car. It defiantly deserves a more mature go.

The 86 took inspiration from the 2000GT's styling. It was never intended as a successor.

Updated styling of this please...
They should make Scion the "sporty car brand" of Toyota, and not boxes..

My only big thing, is everyone complaining about "ricing" the car...a lip kit(which most people use no matter what trim they have), a shark fin(once again, I believe more people want the shark fin over the stock), and an exhaust(how many aftermarkets have been added?) makes it "rice"?

Are we just upset that Toyota is factory adding the exact things most people WANT on the car and therefore buy aftermarket anyways? Perhaps it's just the demographic. Where I live, "rice" means something completely different...

I think they can all be added.. As long as it's tasteful, and it's not heavily modified..

Nothing like this.

To be expected, other than the generous facelift to the tC, the other vehicles have remained the same for awhile.

My thoughts:
- Toyota Auris with some exterior changes to replace the xD. It's something like a Matrix replacement which Toyota lacks in their current line up (unless there is plans for a Corolla hatch in near future).
- Interior refresh on tC, the exterior is good for a couple years.
- iQ can refresh once Toyota iQ does.
- xB can turned into a rugged small suv. Something to compete against the upcoming Jeep Renegade, and steal sales away from Jeep Wrangler while also filling the void of the late-FJ cruiser for Toyota off-roading enthusiasts.

I would be first on line for that. But, according to what I have read, they are saying like 60k. Sigh.

2015?? I'm going to wait for a few years (a bunch of years) when I can get a used one. I didn't realize they were that much in the day.

Scion's worst competition has been Toyota! There's been too much overlap between both brands' lineups both competing for the same young customers. Yaris VS xA/xD/iQ, youth focused marketing of the new Corolla vs Scion and partially the tC. I think there's some partial overlap with the Prius C as well. The only two unique products left are the FR-S and the long-in-the-tooth xB.

I thought Scion had something going with the more Japanese stylized cars when the first xB came out, but Scion watered down the entire lineup with the second generation. No new, quirky, JDM cars. No more "experiments," with product. Scion has still kept their crazy marketing but they need product to sell!

Scion also dropped the ball with Bespoke. The launch of the premium head unit on the 2013 FRS was botched with a replacement system launched one year later. You would think that the youth brand would have the best telematics and phone connectivity, but is a generation behind. You can get the newest generation of Entune, a huge step up, on the 2014 Corolla. You get last generation crap repackaged as Bespoke on Scion.

Given all the focus on aftermarket parts, I don't know why Scion isn't selling the JDM headlights, or desirable interior parts, as DIY aftermarket at the dealer. It has to be some individual lead effort on the dealer's part.

I agree in almost every spec the hatchback Yaris was superior to the IQ. It was so ridiculous that they had to eliminate the manual Yaris hatchback. In real world driving the IQ is such a disappointment in not saving mpg over the ancient Yaris/Tercel tech.
