What exact paint did you use? Also, did you add clear coat over them?

Thank you for the comment by the way :-)

Super Deep 19" Forgestar F14s are going on soon, as well as the Rocket Bunny V1 kit. The rear bumper vinyl is also in gold. I see how it looked green with the light. Lol. Hopefully I can get the doors done up with a combo of gold/silver to help blend everything in. I'll keep posting so keep feeding the input.

Thanks again!
Well, that will help! I had a funny feeling that car was waiting on a RB kit.

Most people probably burn through the first 1,000 mi in a matter of a week or two; I just chose to buy a lightweight RWD coupe in the middle of Nebraska winter. lol.

In any case, it's game on now. First auto-x next weekend!
I know the owner's manual says it ("Who told you?!" is a phrase). I'm telling you to THROW IT AWAY! It's all good, though. There's just been abnormal oil use in engines that are babied compared to ones that are just driven like normal from Day 1.

Personally, I think the gloss looks really good over the dip. Important part to do is to let each coat dry before putting the next wet layer on. The gloss will bond with the existing color and if it's too heavy, you run the risk of the weight stretching portions of the piece. I dipped the wheels on my Mazda Blaze Orange with the gloss. I can post pics later if you'd like.

NOW I remember why I bought this thing! For the past few weeks I had been shopping replacement options, as the power under the 4k break-in ceiling is severely lacking. I hated driving it. Winding it out really wakes this car up. I'm still getting used to the lack of torque but hearing it scream at 6-7k is definitely intoxicating.
Wow it took you 4 months?! I just bought mine in the last weekend of March (so that puts me just over 2.5 weeks of owning), and I'm already at 900 miles!

That being said... Can't wait until I hit that triple zero and redline it! For the fir.... eh... second time

Just make sure to do regular oil changes and you're good. It's 2014. These engines are good from the factory. Standards of build quality have risen since the 1970's.

Anyways, congrats! Welcome to the world!
Break-in is a very touchy topic. Standards have indeed risen.

But the physics of metal expansion due to heat still remain no matter how well you create an engine.

The hood is in fact metal... it's just not steel, and therefore is not magnetic. Depending on the way its manufactured, not all steel is even magnetic.

Back to the point... the hood is Aluminum.

The hood is a metal, it's aluminum. Aluminum does not display strong magnetic interactions though, so this is why the magnet is not sticking to it.

Go Red Wings
