The BRZ manual specifies that any fuel containing more than 10% ethanol is not recommended. I know that E85 is readily available in many US states so what do USDM FA20 engines have (or don't have) that enable them to run E85?

We were at the Tuesday practice round. It was a fantastic experience.

The golf course is perfect, not a blade of grass out of place. You would never know that a storm rolled through the day before that closed the golf course.

OK I did a bit of research on the Web and E85 fuel can be used in a gasoline (E10 max) engine with an E85 tune. There are no ill effects on any part of the fuel system by using E85 in a gasoline optimized car. It is recommended that the fuel filter be changed if the engine has high mileage or if it has deposits. Apparently the ethanol in E85 has a "cleaning" effect on the fuel system and debris can clog the fuel filter.

There was quite a bit of debate on here at one point re; the E85 tune (at the time only available through ECUtek iirc) but it's been proven pretty good given the proper tune, especially from someone like Shiv who really knows his stuff. Good to know about the fuel filter and the cleaning effect, kinda like a Seafoam or for us older folk, the good old "italian tune-up".

I was going to run e85 and likely still will. Runs cooler, costs less, burns clean but there's only one station around so your almost obligated to stock your trunk with Jerry's or get a flex fuel kit with the auto tune fuel ratio sensor. Your car will also drink fuel close to 30% faster and larger injectors are a must for the needed fuel flow.

Very interested to get this valve. Have you already ordered it? Anyone else interested to save some shipping costs on this?

Is there others from the GTA that are interested in doing something like this?

As long the car is NA is to use stock injectors, once force induction is introduced, a whole new set of parameters are also introduced which needs the larger injectors.

I have been running e85 ONLYY during the summer, you feel the big difference once you get back to regular pump gas. the main disadvantage is that the gas mileage is terrible and there is only one station that offers e85 in Ottawa. In Toronto i believe there is no gas station that offers e85.

But yes, ethanol from a thermodynamics point of view does run cooler and more efficient. But because it has less energy per volume, more e85 is pumped through the injectors to produce same energy level as 91 octane. Because of its efficiency and aggressive tune that you are able to run (e85 is more resistant to knock, so you can run aggressive Ignition timing) you are technically making more power.

I believe, ethanol has some side effect with rubber hoses, but nothing particularly running it in the engine. And yes ethanol is natural cleaning agent.

Also, where do you guys buy plasti dip locally (in Ottawa). The only place I've been able to find is Home Hardware, but I'd rather not spend $20 per can if there's an alternative.

I think most places are expensive. Could check next mod but I believe it's not much cheaper. Less expensive to go to the states

How difficult was it to work on the injectors and such?
The spark plug replacement procedure looks hard enough
Just curious since I won't be touching injectors, etc lol

I've heard they can be tricky on our cars, don't recall why. Mine are still in a box at home. I was about to order my flex fuel kit when people started reporting issues such as this.
