Perrin's 3" exhaust made more power across the entire RPM range than their 2.5" exhaust..

Looks like they made those gains with extensive tuning, perrin intake and stock header and front pipe and 3" CBE. It's really hard to read article though. Not many mentions of which overpipe was used, and I'm guessing it was the stock overpipe because it seems weird to me to put a 3" overpipe between two stock pieces.

A properly designed header and resonator are essential for proper scavenging, and make no mistake the OEM exhaust was designed to create that torque curve with the twin peaks.

Also don't forget Perrin doesn't have a true 3" overpipe. It's a 2.5" overpipe flowing into a 3".

Sorry, but I didn't say it all needs to be from one manufacturer :P

Really? The Tomei 60R weighs 10.1lbs. They don't list the actually list the weight of the 3" Perrin on their website, but they do list the shipping weight at 44lbs. So take maybe 4 lbs off and that is probably generous, for the boxes and foam, and we'll estimate it at 40lbs.

So, you really think 30lbs off of this car is negligible?

Not to mention that anyone truly concerned about aero in the rear would just buy a functional diffuser, like the DrivewayLabs one, and then it doesn't matter what axle-back you use.
