The probable difference in rates between the springs and resulting sag from using inferior material will make a huge difference. 50 bux yo I cut them stock springs fer ya

Inferior damping can most definitely negatively affect the handling safety margins.

If you're on a tight budget there is only one way to lower your car:

In all honesty, there are two quality coilovers that come to mind for under 1k. ST, and the B14.

Maybe I wasn't obvious but my opinion is that 1) almost all coilovers available are garbage and 2) almost no one needs coilovers.

But... sag is the least of your worries. Just raise it back up. Spring rates are probably stupid but the biggest issue is the damping is going to be awful. No way I'd ever put these things on my car. I had Tein Flex on my WRX till I learned better.

Good deal I ordered a set from eBay yesterday only paid $222 with free shipping surprised Fed-Ex shows they'll be here tomorrow.

I know what I'm doing on my day off Friday!

I would say at that price get racelands, both will ride like ass but if you want to go low you cant get any cheaper. Like everyone said just do coils, just buy some used ones. I went springs on my old car and always wished I saved up and did it right.

You don't necessarily need to spend a bunch of money to get quality. Stock is quality and it's free. Well, free with purchase of car.

You do need to keep your expectations and priorities realistic if you're not spending a lot of money. You can get a good set of springs for 300 bucks, lower the car a little (like 20mm), and improve handling slightly. But you're not going to lower the car 1.5 inches and keep good ride and handling for 300 bucks.

What I meant: almost everyone is better off without coilovers. Everyone is better off without <$1000 coilovers.
