Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 Coming this Fall

Quote:
Scion is readying an even hotter version of its FR-S and it’ll be arriving this fall.

Following in the footsteps of other Scion models, the FR-S will get its Release Series 1.0 model later this year and with it will be a unique Yuzu-colored exterior (as in, bright yellow) complemented with HID headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights. On the inside, the FR-S will benefit from dual-zone automatic climate control, a Smart key with Push Button Start and TRD shifter-plate with a sequentially-numbered TRD badge.

The Scion FR-S RS 1.0 will be prepared at the TRD factory and will come equipped with a TRD Aero Kit with spoiler, TRD lowering springs and a quad-tip exhaust system from TRD. In addition, the interior will gain a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob. Like other RS vehicles in Scion’s lineup, the FR-S RS 1.0 will be limited to just 1,500 units.

Expect more info including pricing and availability later this year.

Looks pretty lame for a USDM "TRD" car.

Its going to be water based and therefore it'll chip easily. Doesn't matter if you buy a actual Toyota, a GM truck, a BMW, etc. Water based paints are much thinner and less durable and as a result they all chip easily. The only advantage of using water based paints is they're more environmentally friendly. The only reason people complain about Subaru paint for so long is simple, Subaru has been using water based paints for a very long time. Everybody else switched sometime in the mid 2000s.

I'm sure it will be both, just like the 10 Series and Monogram.

Weird.... I called my dealer and I'm the first on the list if they get in a manual one...

I actually think this is pretty cool, but then again this is just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you can vote by either buying it or not buying it.

The yellow is a bit strong for me, but I like that they went with something bold. And while I would have considered this car if i was looking now, I'm totally happy with my 10 series and wouldn't trade it in for this.

No matter what they do, people will complain. When the 10 series came out, people complained that the silver was too boring. Now that the yellow is out, they are saying they hate it. But honestly, wouldn't we rather have a car/trim/colour that divides opinion than one that doesn't generate any buzz or excitement at all?

I have always thought they should have offered two trim levels, but i guess this is a way for Scion to keep the buzz up and potentially attract new customers, even if it means pissing off the customers that have already bought it.

Scion FRS RS 1.0

I'd been planning to purchase a Firestorm within the next couple of weeks, but have always secretly wanted one of these in yellow.. So, I've gone ahead and called my two most local dealers. Both advised they have no pricing, order, or build dates as of yet, and neither knew what series I was referring to. I'd even turned down a cash-back deal on current stock a few weeks ago, just based on color availability (could have had a nicely equipped Monogram, cash back, and all). Come on Scion, take (more of) my money!

Aside from that, I'm on the fence about the nuances of the aero bits - but they don't look half bad, IMO.
