To show what gear you are in or to setup the RPM warning light/beep take a look at this video:

I knew the BRZ could do this, how do we do it on the frs?

edit...I think its the stock crappy one that can be customized, not the bespoke/touch screen one, right?

Correct, non-touch screen version. I'm sure you can do a minor hack to do a different background for bespoke...haven't seen a DIY though.

I set mine at 7000, and found that I could only occasionally hear the buzzer. Depended on where my ears were positioned.

Too much commotion at 7000 rpm; it drowns out the buzzer.

Also, my ears are old.

(I have a FRS so these might not apply for the BRZ. Some of these are also already mentioned in this thread, so sorry for the duplicates)

Headlights:
- There's a hidden horizontal adjuster under a plastic cap behind the lights.
- You can go to the dealership and have them disable DRL (which might also extend the lifespan of the high beam bulbs).

Hood prop:
- You can move the stand in order to prop the hood more...vertically. But since the hood is very lightweight, this might increase the risk of the wind blowing it out of being propped and slamming down on the car (possibly breaking the prop and/or other stuff in the engine bay).

Keyless entry beep:
- You can go to the dealership and have them program your car to use the horns instead of the almost inaudible beep when locking/unlocking the car.
- As a trick (and a possible security flaw), if you're with other FR-S owners, you can hold the lock/unlock button and they won't be able to lock/unlock their car. Something about frequency jamming of some sort. (Disclaimer: don't do this)
- If you park your car and walked away a bit too far from the range of the key fob, point the metal key to your mouth from under your chin, open your mouth and press the Lock button. Your skull will act as some sort of resonator (not sure of the proper term) and will "enhance" the signal. (Yes, I'm serious)

Audio:
- If you hold the volume button down while the key is in ACC mode (car is off), you can switch the radio type. Most of the time, this is set initially to something else not FR-S, which might make the speakers not to work properly.
- You can also set a startup message using the above trick.

Dash panel:
- You can set the RPM beep indicator and when you start your car, the needle will move up to that level before dropping back down.
- You can also set the gear indicator (Google it!), but it's not "real-time" that it needs a couple seconds to register.

Sound generator:
- You can use the cover for the 12v socket (the one in the glove compartment) to plug the hole of the sound generator (located at edge of passenger foot well).

Fusebox:
- There's a fuse clip thingy in the engine fusebox which allows you to pull the small fuses out.

My ears are old too...and have hearing aids in them! So I aksed my wife to listen yesterday, and she doesn't hear it either.

But I already suspected that mechanical noises might be "drowning it out". Guess I'll try setting it lower, like 5K, and see if I can hear it.

Thanks

I haven't noticed a delay, but it IS based on the clutch being in or out.
