LOL I've read your posts and while "technically" correct you can avoid the dip your answer for an all the time, day in day out, way to avoid it is pretty damn stupid.

Consistently launching the car by reving the engine to 5000rpm and dumping the clutch is great way to f' your car up.

I think the OPs point was missed:

1 - This car has a noticeable torque dip - period
2 - You can eliminate 95% of the dip in 5 minutes by replacing the stock ROM with the OFT stage one - done.
Torque dip not noticeable.

Why is that so hard to understand?
Now this begs the question - WHY didnt it come from the factory that way (we might finid out in a few months if people who upgraded to the OFT-ROMs start having reliability issues but I dont think so)

And anyone that redlines their car every time they go from 1st to 2nd is just a jackass - period.

Guess that makes me a jackass when launching. I don't do it often, but if I have reason, I will floor it and redline it in first and throw it into second and get low trac on. Always fun to see how much torque this little boxer has.

Reason it doesn't come from the factory that way is the same reason any car from a factory runs more rich.... failure rates. Rich = safer. Doesn't mean its efficient at all, and honestly no car company has time to sit and tune every car that leaves the factory.

The tune can only do so much until the stock parts restrict flow. That's why swapping headers is the popular thing paired with a tune to eliminate the dip fully pending the tuner knows what they are doing.

What kind of chips are your favorite with Torque Dip? I was out today, and paid a little more attention to what the engine was doing. On the street, driving "normally" (AKA responsibly, I guess) I rarely got over 4k, both with the AT doing the work and in manual mode. On a favorite little chunk of road, it was almost the same, the difference being how quickly I got to 4k. That, or it was hovering at around 5k. Since I am familiar with the road, I was "ahead" of the car and knew where I should be on the road and the tach. I'm surprised to hear people who race this car can't manage the dip. Would it be better if it wasn't there? Of course, but learning to live with it is half the fun, no? It's not a fast car, but it is mighty quick in the curvy bits.

If the engineers were able to do it while not impacting the rest of the torque curve and still meet their emission/regulatory requirements, don't you think they would have? They have to play by different rules than your individual car that can just grab a tune. You don't have to meet cost/reliability/regulatory requirements. There is most definitely a reason they delivered what they did. We'll likely never know why, though.

I knew that neither of you did it every time as someone stated above.
I was just picturing me every morning at 6:30AM lighting the tires 4 times before even leaving my neighborhood.

I start the car with the garage door down for the same reason!

Back to the original question, although you can drive around the torque dip, a car with headers and tune makes more power everywhere in the band. On the rare occasions that I am burning up my leftover E85 on the street, the car is absolutely perfect at that time with apx 240 crank HP. Night and day different than stock.
