What he was trying to say was the STI wheels are too narrow and too high of offset. The ASGA's are the same design, but slightly wider allowing for wider tires and a better offset.

Yeah I'd love to know the specs of those dampers. Standard B8 with a fancy sticker or re-tuned?

So I got the STI pillowball lateral and trailing link sets installed today. Haven't had enough seat time yet but took some intersection corners and the steering center feels a little bit more solid, again very subtle but noticeable (then again this could be due to re-alignment). The rear definitely has more grip now, before since new when taking off sometimes there's this choppiness feeling at the rear but now that's totally gone, the car accelerates off quite smooth now (even when our roads are pretty bad already after winter).

I read on the forum somebody took almost the entire day on 4 jacks by himself. You should print out the schematics from the Japanese technical manual so you'll know what replacement nuts and bolts and pins to buy at the Subaru dealer. They took 2 weeks to come from Japan, and the Japanese technical manual is more accurate than the dealer computer schematics but you will need both printouts (the dealer computer cannot make out 2 extra M12 nuts for the lower control arms for some reason). Basically the trailing links will need 4 new M12 bolts and 4 new M12 nuts in total. This STI set comes with 4 collars for the pillowball bushings. The lateral links will need 2 new M14 nuts and 2 new pins total for the toe links, and 6 new M12 nuts and 2 new M10 nuts total for the lower control arms. This STI set comes with 2 M14 washers and 2 M12 washers for the pillowball bushings. Last edited by krayzie; 04-11-2014 at 03:30 PM. |

If the bolts were rusted certainly a good reason to replace them.
Any concerns about running pillow balls in bad weather areas? |
