Yes thats also lots of shifting and high rpms through twisting roads...not something that most people do everyday. Real world mileage will be closer the 25-30mpg mark

The main problem isn't shifting and high rpm, it's the frequent acceleration and braking

Situational driving definitely affects mileage. For example, my 1977 Honda Civic CVCC wagon that normally did well over 30MPG once did 8MPG. Of course, I was carrying 10 people in it at the time. Oh for the days when we didn't know better....

I drive a V6 Taco as well, from October - Mar I get around 20-21 mpg combined driving (30 mi/day highway commute), but in the summer it drops to 18-19 mpg.

For driving on public roads like an idiot with no regard for the law, sure. Ever read what the Long Term cars at Motor Trend average for fuel economy? They're laughably unrealistic. It'll likely get 9 MPG when driven in anger on most racetracks. Back in the real world where there's traffic and speed limits with radar traps to back them up, most people will get close to the EPA numbers.

1993 Lexus SC300 stick, 18-19 mpg so will be a fair improvement with the FR-S. Although the Lexus has 225 hp, due to the weight deferential the FR-S will be faster. I'm psyched! for a Firestorm 6 spd MT.

I get 12 MPG, sometimes 14-15 after a long trip. 10-11 in town.

So yes.

My Cavalier, with it's big 60trim turbo strapped onto it, 8 injectors and 250whp averages 32-33mpg. Granted I stay out of boost most of my driving, but I'm no saint when it comes to the throttle. My driving is about 70%HWY/30%City

Safe to say the BRZ/FRS fuel mileage is a big disappointment for me, but it's doable. The reason I never got an RX8 was the fuel consumption, I could not live with something that realistically gets 18mpg... So needless to say I had my hopes up that this thing would be getting 30+ average easy.

did I read it wrong or I am behind the technology. I used to think manual transmission had better mileage than auto. on the Scion/FR-S spec page, the MT is better than AT.. !!

MPG** (EPA COMBINED) (MT/AT) 25 / 28

I get 25 mpg in my 02 WRX, 90% highway. I should save $750/year.
