Hey New BRZ owner

Hey I'm new to this forum and I have a 2014 limited BRZ. I was just wondering if anyone had their Subaru dealership install the optional 10 inch subs and if so, how much did it cost and how good do they sound.

It's like $600 plus whatever they charge for the installation. There are much better options for less money. Plus the stock BRZ head unit is awful.

Had it done. It costs a couple hundred since it's about 2.5 hrs of work for them to install. Add that to the cost of the unit ($600).

Prog has it right, there are better options if you are willing to do it yourself.

Reason I did it, was that the stock system didn't have depth in the sound and needed something. Knowing myself though, if I would've done it, I would have spent a crap ton to replace the HU, add the sub, find enclosure, run wiring, etc, etc. Would have cost way more than $900 and a lot of time in the garage. And I got to roll that cost into the loan of the car.

I already have one project in the garage and the time I've would've spend on a stereo installation was the time I got to spend with my 4yr old son and newborn twins. I can't get that lost time back.

Sound quality is not the best but it's something I can live with till I have better time to spend in the garage.

If you want the best sound out of the stock system with the Subwoofer, you should go to the fader control and shift the sound to the back slightly. Just move the little box down about one quarter of the way. The subwoofer is hooked up to the front speakers, so it needs to be offset a bit. Then you can use the EQ settings for different types of sources of the music, ie. MP3 from USB or Aux, Sirius XM radio, standard radio, CD, etc.

Once I did that, I found the system to be quite decent for the cost. There are better options out there, but like you, the cost was a factor for me.
