Spacers on OEM wheels?
What are your views on this? I'm debating ordering H&R spacers for my car to use with my OEM. Thought I'd go with 30mm in the back and 25mm in the front. My goal is to have a more flush look without having to buy wider tires. What's everyone's view points on this?

I saw someone post that 30mm was too wide. I think they went near flush with 25 mm & 20 mm. YMMV as I have no personal experience.

Make sure you buy extended studs.

I was recommended the set up you're wanting to go when I lowered mine on coilovers. That being said, I know the dangers of them from the truck world if you don't spend the money and buy extended studs. So, I'm choosing not to run spacers on this car.
Not saying people don't have problems. There's hundreds I'd say on this site that run them fine. I just don't like them personally. |

I already ordered them from H&R. Thanks for the offer though. They came with studs pré built in.

Which ones did you get? I just installed a set myself.

How'd you like them? Notice anything different in the feel? What size did you get?

Why pay for spacers when you can buy cheap 17x8's with an agressive offset and use your stock tires? Seriously $200 spacers or $400 wheels? Just get the $400 wheels by saving a little longer...

That post shows the comparison between stock and 25mm spacers. In that thread you can also see the difference with spacers/springs vs stock/coilovers. Hope that helps! |

...wider wheels and spacers appear to increase wear of wheel bearings, since they are designed for stock components/dimensions...don't know which spacer thickness becomes too much...I'm planning to use my 12mm spacers on street and track to clear BBK...I will replace wheel bearings if/when needed...
Anyone has more experience with specific spacer thickness and excessive wheel bearing wear for twins? Perhaps with more track/AX use or higher street miles? |
