Not sure honestly. I've never looked into these systems as I've never really been affected by them.

Her ya go. These are the rage in the Simi Valley. They are comfortable, really, really, quiet and project an atmosphere of aggressive and dominating behavior, i.e., (alpha male).

wow thread derailed...
I feel like there is a CDV for engagement, because trying to double clutch quickly still has a notable "bump" in the shift as the synchros mate. I've tried many different timings and only If I DC slowly, the shifter nearly falls into place as it should. This makes me believe the clutch doesn't engage quickly enough between two quick stabs of the pedal. I had an 06 Evo MR that had a CDV, but it was pretty simple to remove. The Evolutionm.net guys called it the clutch pill, and it was a little restrictor piece in the slave cylinder behind the hose threads. Remove the hose, extract restrictor pill, reinstall hose and bleed clutch. IT'd be nice if someone was willing to tear down their 86 clutch master and slave to see just wtf is going on in there. |

Well, the exploded diagram I see of the master doesn't show anything that could be it, but the body of the master is oddly shaped (and the exploded diagram doesn't cover removal of the snap ring on the bottom and what's behind it). Given it's odd shape, it could very well be in there.
The slave looks conventional. |

I don't find the clutch release bothers me in terms of feel, but does anyone else get this noticeable "zzzt" sound when releasing quickly?

Unless you let your for lag on the clutch when upshifting, there's no need to blip on the upshift (that is, lag so long your revs drop below what they'd normally drop to on the upshift).
On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

![]() By "oddly shaped," I'm assuming you're talking about the round bit below the cylinder where the diagram says "Clutch master cylinder body." That does look pretty suspicious. ![]() Here's the slave cylinder: ![]() And how it fits in the bigger scheme of things: ![]() Looking at how other CDVs are installed, if there were one in there, my money would be on it being attached to the top end of that flexible hose to the slave cylinder. I don't think we have one. Last edited by extrashaky; 04-06-2014 at 11:51 PM. |

Any confirmation that there is actually a clutch delay valve on our cars? I happened to come across this thread; it sounds like this spring could be the cause of odd feeling of our clutch engagement: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=35621&page=2

That said, in more spirited driving I adjust throttle input at the start of the shift and not at the end like when you downshift and rev match. It's just being a little more lazy sometimes with removing the right foot from the gas as you're hitting the clutch pedal. I don't raise the rpms, I just don't let them fall as fast. Just gives you smoother shifts, no driveline jerk, and earlier application of the throttle in the next gear without doing any clutch feathering. |

That clutch spring sounds like a more likely explanation for the behavior of this clutch. I'm up to 7500 miles on mine, and to me the clutch seems to have gotten better. I don't know if that's because that spring has had a chance to break in or because I have gotten used to driving with such a soft clutch. Personally I can live with it like it is. |
