I don't know if I'm reading what you wrote wrong but there are plenty of Formula D cars that compete and don't have motors that are from the same manufacturers as their cars.

I feel like im the only person that dosent care about engine swaps anymore. Im tired of these 2jz and LS swaps, we all know they are amazing engines. I would be more impressed if they worked on the FA20 engine and gave back the community then just swapping a engine that has been in every car known to man. To me, if you toss out the engine on a car that has a good engine, it's like tossing out it's soul.

Have to agree with the general sentiment here. Right from day 1 all I've wanted is to see the FA20 pushed to its limits and see what sort of crazy performance the top tuners can squeeze out of it.
I don't care about a 2JZ swap, or an LS, V8 etc. It's been done thousands of times before, yes we know it's an easy way to make big power but it just feels like the car is now "empty". It has no spirit left. It's just yet another V8 with some random shell put over the top. I want to see passion, I want to see tuners working hard, identifying weaknesses in the FA20 and showing with pride how they fixed them or worked around the problem. Before D1 used to be exciting because you had V4s, V8s, turbo, n/a, supercharged, fwd, rwd, awd. You'd be amazed at the acceleration of the GTR but your jaw would hit the ground when that little AE86 passed it on the corners through tuning and sheer driver skill. You'd see one driver do a cool little flick to get the car on the right line, then another would come along with a completely different technique and you'd sit there hypothesising on which method was "correct" and how you could replicate it. You'd look at an aristo take on some twisties and think "wow never thought it could do that, I need to find a good tuner and buy that suspension kit". Now it's just become "smoke, more smoke, ooh look a funny hat, smoke..still smoke, *fireworks!* and now, a word from our sponsor". |

I mean if you speak on US only spec. Some could argue that the SR20 came in the JDM spec S chassis, as there is one S chassis with an SR20 in it (but only because his 2jz S chassis had mechanically problems). |
