Thanks guys. Amazing community and enthusiasm on the board. Had the G35 6speed while my other car (89 twin turbo was getting restored). But am liking the FR's that I see.

Hi,

I'm from France, I have a Toyota GT 86 for a month now (I bought a used one from mid 2013 with 6.500km).

I love it, and I come here to find more technical infos about issues and modifications.

Two pictures of my GT 86 :

Hello. My name is Jen. I am thinking about getting the FRS. I typically drive sports cars/muscle cars and have put 320k miles on a Prius over the past seven years. My husband and I have an R/T Challenger, manual, and another Prius. So, I have spent about 400k miles in a Prius. I'm looking for a manual car to drive once or twice a week to work (I have a 120 miles commute for work). The Challenger is huge to me, so I'm looking at something smaller. I am also considering either a Mustang or Camaro but am concerned about their reliability. I have had Camaros and Mustangs in the past and have put lots of dollars into fixing them.

Since Scion is Toyota based, I'm hoping that the FRS is a reliable sports car.

Hello Jen and welcome to this forum .....

I feel the FR-S would be a good car for you. It is comfortable enough for long drives yet it is snappy and fun to drive.

As you are coming from "faster" cars, keep in mind that the FR-S is not going to get much faster, without a FI modification.

Also, the "back seat" won't get any larger.

As far as reliability, it has shown to be generally durable.

It won't win many drag type races but ..... it won't hold too many cars back on curvy roads.

If you have specific questions, don't be hesitant to ask.

Does this car have "Toyota" reliability since it has the Subaru boxer engine?
(If I need something fast off the line, the Challenger is over 400 hp....after seven years in a Prius, anything will feel fast

Cool, what did you get? I just ordered a couple things too lol. I just ordered a rear lip spoiler, rear diffuser, STI concept rear aprons, and STI concept front splitter, and ordering the STI concept skirts.

Well, Jen, I'm not sure what "Toyota reliability" is, nor the reliability of the "Subaru engines".....or at least don't want to get into it ....

However, the boxer engine, modified by Toyota, seems to be quite reliable, at least in the short (2 years) it's been out.

Some folks have experienced some problems when the car is tracked hard (injector seals).

Some have had relatively minor engine annoyances (sometimes called the crickets) that arise from the high pressure fuel pump, which feeds the direct injectors.

All in all, I reckon this car hasn't suffered any more imperfections than any other car.

I've had my FR-S for about 9 months and 8,000 miles and I've never had to take it back to the dealership (except for an oil/filter change).

I hope this helps.....
