I don't get it.. 25k for this car is not a bad deal. All the other cars made by other manufactures can be comparable, but it's really not any better than the FR-S. It's more of a personal preference of what you like and what you are willing to pay for what you get.
Back to the FR-S, it's great to know that this car was build upon a foundation of the original 86. That being said, the feel of the car is going to be what people should be looking at. All the other luxuries that don't come with the car (HID's, push start, etc.) is what makes it a raw car, IMO. I don't think Scion wanted to sell a luxury sports car. I also feel that this car is targeted towards a specific audience so those want want to sit and watch may do so, however, those uninterested should get up and leave the show because the film will not change. |

Holy crap, things have really esssploded around here... For those who don't want to buy this car because the price has turned you off, I'm sorry. I'm only sorry because I will completely enjoy my experience and you haven't given yourself the same opportunity to enjoy alongside me. This forum is now showing that the enthusiasm is going to be purified for the loyal followers of this car. We aren't stupid for buying a car that has specs that may not match up to what you feel are standards, but you're missing the point. Driving a car that gives you joy and provides you with historical proof of reliability has only been seen a few times. This is what we have craved and we have been rewarded. Could it have been $22K? Maybe, but there are many circumstances that have adjusted this price but it simply won't change my choice, my chips are in.

FWIW the guys at Edmunds can't drive for shit. their acceleration times are always leagues behind everyone else. They publish soccer mom acceleration times.

So what would people say if the car cost 31k with a supercharger on it and the hp was minimum of 270? (but that would not be likely.)
Because that is what my Celica is with a greddy supercharger + other various parts. I bought my supercharger + bits installed and tuned for about 5k add another 1.6k or so for lsd and clutch and flywheel add more for rims tires and suspension Because I tell you what I am not going to buy fr-s to keep it stock. But I think it is a good starting off point. I am not just lookin at a concervatave base of some issues of the car, but it's overall potential and quality. I could care less for a 100k warranty if it is not honored. I know for a fact and for at least Toyota they actually honor their warranty's. Other car company's quality may have finally have caught up with what they should be. but a am sorry after a couple of decades of screwing the world with shitty cars they are not going to make up for it by trying to sell me their cars a so called reasonable priced cars. Perhaps I am wrong but if greddy already has a 600hp drift car, I would think it would be likely to translate in to some sort of FI kit in the future. |

Boosted FRS = intercooler, intercooler piping, turbo, bigger tires/wheels, bigger brakes, firmer suspension/sway bars/struct bars/additional plumbing. All so you can go about a second faster to 60, and wear out all the parts faster, increase maintenance intervals, and in the process most likely shorten the life of your engine. Not to mention, most of the weight gain will be in the front, so you are making a 53/47 car even more front biased which will cause a negative impact to handling.
Honestly don't understand the appeal. |

I do not have nor need a intercooler with my supercharger. and all that extra weight gain?! it's not like you are doping in a v8 or something. I think just sitting a toddler in the passenger seat will affect the handling in the same as a few pieces of aluminum piping. And by the idea of shortening the life of your engine you may as well be like an old grandmother and cry whenever your car goes over 3krpm. While your are at it you can blame your grandsons Nintendo for your old black and white tv having a shitty picture

Superchargers are even heavier, we're talking +65-100 pounds over the front alone. Not to mention related issues with heat soak. Not to mention - are you going to reinforce your internals to deal with your supercharger as well?
The car was designed from the ground up to have the weight distribution it has and the power it has. I have no problem bouncing off redline on a car from the factory. |

I think it's pretty hilarious what things have come to...Toyota said this is a car that's not about the numbers and are taking this to the extreme, and is trying to sell it in America where people care ONLY about the numbers.
First of all they drove off a portion of buyers considering manual transmission in the US by not specifying an alternative shift schedule, which might not matter since selling more autos makes them more money, but it looks bad on paper when a Mustang appears to get the same fuel economy. Secondly, they made a joke of 0-60 by having 2nd gear top out before 60, and it's going to cost them sales. Let's see what they bring to the table with an upgraded version... |

If you look at the review video of the BRZ, it shows 101kph in 2nd, which is 62mph, so is the FRS geared differently than the BRZ? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...870#post164870
