One thing that struck me as a little strange, there is a "marker" light inside the low beam side of the headlight. Its on when you turn the key on, but not the bike, then gets washed out by the headlight when you turn the bike on. As far as I could tell there wasn't one on the high beam side. ![]() I'm not sure if its something to do with headlight laws or BMW just being a bunch of crazy Germans, but it was just something that made me wonder.

I'd love to ride the SuperDukeR 1290. But the $16k+ price is a little prohibitive right now. I dig a good streetfighter.
My 3rd gen Z1000 with Akra, PC5 and a handful of other engine mods is pretty damn torquey with a serious top end pull. Others with same mods/tune say it dynos around 140-145 RWHP. As for the S1000R, I've got mixed opinions. It's very rare that any bike causes my brow to furl and a gag reflex to form, but somehow they nailed it. I bet it rides phenomenally well, the revised engine power looks like my cup of tea (compared to the S1000RR peak at redline) but damn it's just so ugly. The asymmetrical part doesn't bother me, I guess it's the body shape and headlight shape, it looks like a race bike with a flat bar and ugly fairing on the front. Looks half-assed I guess? I dunno, can't quite put my finger on it, but I'd love to take one for a test ride. |

Its a European thing from what I've heard. Its a parking light so you add a little bit of visibility if you have a break down or something. My Street Triple has them in both headlights. I'd love to try an s1000r though they look pretty sweet. Although I'd probably stick with Triumph when it comes to naked bikes.

Looks like i'm going to pull the trigger.
There is an exhaust company called Competition Werkes thats about 2 hours north of me that is good friends with the dealership I'm going through. Since its a new bike, CW needs a test bike to build pipes for in exchange they are going to throw in a slip on and a fender eliminator kit for free, basically ~$500 worth of stuff i'd do anyways. That coupled to a low interest rate and the amount of WANT that i've got right now means that as soon as they can get there hands on a Blue one, its all mine.

Of course. The bittersweet side of the exhaust arrangement is that I won't be able to ride my new baby shortly after I buy it, but i'm sure it'll be worth it.

Absolutely. I'm not sure how different the sound will be given that the S1000RR doesn't change hardly at all with just a slip on. If you look directly under the engine of both the R and the RR there is a big ugly cat/valve system that makes them suuuuuuper quiet, even with no muffler, they aren't that loud. I'll still put a quick exhaust video up.
