Honestly...Id get seats again the reclining ability being something Id get...the wife would probably kill me though. I like a tall sided seat better then what we have but what we have is fantastic for a stock seat

I've really wanted to pull the trigger on seats, but not having those airbags the stock seats have forces me not to. It's my daily driver, so if I'm still daily driving it, nothing short of a full race seat *with* an airbag similar to the BRZ ts version will do.

Also, passenger weight sensor is a problem. If there was a suitable workaround to this, I'd be more inclined to swap seats, as would many other people I think.

I said no. I would be open to covers (as long as they are airbag friendly, etc). Aftermarket seats look great - I love them. I just try not to get rid of safety items like the air bags in the seats.
Show purposes, yes. Daily driver, nope.

Thanks again for your responses. The poll itself came out better than expected in terms of "Yes" answers as well as the informative responses from you all. The airbag issues as well as price are definitely issues to keep in mind.

In regards to removing side airbags:
I am tall (6'7") and in need of additional headroom, but have been avoiding aftermarket seats because of the safety issues of removing the side airbag, along with the possible insurance issues associated with removing a safety device. However, I just contacted my insurance agency (Geico) and they were very informative. They told me that the side airbags exist to prevent your body from slamming into the door in the case of a side-impact. Aftermarket seats with bolsters are designed to limit lateral motion, effectively eliminating the need for side airbags. They confirmed that I will still be completely covered in the case of an impact as long as I do not remove or tamper with the front airbag in the steering wheel. Your results may vary, but contact your insurance provider. I wish I had called them last year when I first started my search for aftermarket seats with side airbags. FYI, the DOT does not allow the sale of aftermarket seats with side airbags in the US, even the Recaro Sportster CS, which comes with the BRZ ts edition. |

I answered "No," but only because replacing the seats is pretty low on my modification list. This is my DD and occasionally I may have someone ride with me. The stock bucket seats are fairly good, good enough that I will spend my money on a lot of other mods first.

Only if I was going to convert it to a track-only car. But at this point, with the car serving duties as both a street and track car, and the stock seats being very good for an OEM design, I'd say no.
