I was 13 when I really started working on cars (like more than my dad asking me to "help"). I'm 28 now. What I did to start was buy a haynes / chilton manual. Then read about little things. "How to check tire pressures" or "How to change engine oil". using your 1-10 scale, checking tires is the .5 range. But it helped me feel like I was learning. "Does tread touch abe? yup... we're good!"

Changing oil was a 2-3 for me the first time. Not because it was hard, but because I was really really scared. I was teaching myself and youtube...not so much. I was poor as shit as a kid. So I was reading books and having friends teach me how to jack a car up properly.

Focus on your little success moments. The things that make you know you're learning. Then push the envelope a little bit each time. "Ok... I can drain and fill the oil... now I will do Oil and the filter".

You'll be building engines in no time flat and have a great sense of self worth and confidence. You got this, man!

Thank you a ton! I just bought mine by the way. It was for $21k and I feel like it was a good deal.

If you wait a year (although, I know you're impatient), you might be able to pull off a monogram in your price range. Might be hard to do, but you'll get what you want then. You could always just paint the headlights on a standard FRS if you don't like the lights. That's the rout I took, but you would still be without the keyless entry.

Best, cheapest rout to get exactly what you want is going to be to wait a year for either a used or left over monogram. Good luck in your search

Edit: Dang. He already bought it. lol. oops. Ignore my post OP

Hahaha! I got really lucky when I bought mine. It had Avant Garde rims on it. After a day, I popped open the hood to find a Injen cold air intake!

Out of curiosity, was this a private sale? Or was it through the dealership?

It's a good time to buy when you can easily afford the car.
