What does that mean..."represents a real world figure"? You mean no one is going to launch at 5500rpms? If that's the case, I would say you were mistaken. Not to mention, not all cars optimal launch at the same rpms. There is no "universal fit" rpm for every car. This is what he launched at (mind you, they aren't even on a drag strip), so it's just as real world as any other rpm launch. I imagine it needs to launch in the sweet spot of the powerband. |

The average person won't appreciate it. That is why we are a unique group of enthusiast. Most people will buy the higher hp car. Just look at the number of Mustang/Camaros sold compared to a RX8/S2000. |

![]() [QUOTE]and a six-speed automatic — perhaps the only one ever well suited to this kind of car — is optional and will cost about $1,200 if it follows traditional Subaru pricing strategies. Shift paddles offer full control over the gearbox and downshifts are perfectly rev-matched. Quote:
zero complexity ='s more fun. IMO. so tired of all the gimmicky overboosted steering systems and hookie-pokie dampers. get it right using the essentials, not computers. Quote:

Still doesn't represent real world scenarios where someone wants to take care of the car that they personally paid for. Sure some 17 yo who got the car from their parents might launch from 5500rpm in their FRS. But the majority of us interested in the BRZ are more mature than that. We want to take care of our car and not abuse it. Do as you please. I will take Edmunds and some of the other reviewers numbers over MT's "abusive relationship with a car that they don't own" any day. Btw, MT is also one of the companies I believe who uses a 3 ft roll out for 0-60 times. Edmunds does not. |

I'm not sure why people are really sweating the acceleration numbers, if you really need more power, there will be so many aftermarket options for these vehicles you'd think you'd bought a muscle car.
You realize what a non intercooled low boost supercharger (read easy install and low cost) could do for this cars performance given its weight? |

In the end, you should always use the same magazine for comparison. Use Motortrends 6.4 to compare to their 5.1 for the V6 mustang, and their 6.5 for the Integra Type-R. As long as the measuring stick is the same, does it matter if they are real world or not? What the hell is the difference between 6.5 and 7.0 seconds in the real world? 2 blinks of an eye? HJ with sprinkles?

My Altima, has 44.1 and I have the seat all the way back and the steering wheel tilted and telescoped all the way and my knees just clear the steering wheel. So I am concerned their is no way I will be able to drive this car, and I am 6'2. 6'3 with shoes on. |
