Other than the real wheel drive these are not the same cars...

I think I will be taking a genesis out for a test drive now though. I drove a friends V6 but with 4 other people in the car (yes 4), I couldn't really do anything too interesting.

Stop it. You keep saying it handles like a sailboat.

Does this look like a sailboat?

Maybe cause Hyundai actually makes better people movers now than Toyota (Sonata Turbo, Azera, Genesis Sedan, Equus, Elantra, Accent, Tucson, Santa Fe) and is eating up sales from Toyota/Honda. Dare I say for a boring people mover, I would go with a Hyundai over a Toyota.

I wasn't comparing at all.
If you would 'read' my thread I was asking about whether the BRZ would give me what the Genesis did.
Not comparing. People on this forum replied and started comparing, there is nothing I can do about that.
I asked about head room... which is important, and power and complimented the cars style and mentioned I'd definitely take it for a test drive and answer the questions for myself but until then I posted the thread for discussion purposes.
I was only able to pull up Canada sales figures for 2011 and it was only outsold by Mustang and Corvette in its 'sports' class.

I think you'll find it very fun to drive if you haven't already. I've never driven it with more than 1 other person. Driving with my dad isn't too fun as I can't as you said do anything 'interesting.'

The car has tons of power and accelerates beautifully. I came from a Eclipse to Genesis 2.0t then the V6 and each step has been leaps and bounds above the previous.
The turbo has great acceleration and performs wonderfully 0-60 but after that it tapers off. The new 2013 might fix this with its big boost in power.
However, the v6 is always ready to perform.
Just tonight some jackass peeled out next to me in an old eclipse. Caught up to him in no time, rode on his side then hit the gas an accelerated as if I was going 20 MPH.
That's been my favorite thing about this car, even when going 60+ it still surprises you by accelerating fast under high speeds. It really doesn't hold anything back and doesn't feel 'slow' accelerating under high speeds like the 2.0T did for me.

Not sure what the overall sales numbers are for the Genesis, but I know that a 2013 has been sitting unsold on the lot for at least a week in Everett.

'13 Genesis 2.0T
3362/274 = 12.3lbs/hp

Just saying.
Next time I post a thread on this forum I'll try to account for the overly sensitive nature of FRS/BRZ enthusiasts.
Until then you can keep making something that's not of my post and not actually answer the questions posed.

I've been a member of some sites for well over 10 years (Blackberry for example) and as soon as someone even mentions a possible competitor or a product that isn't that of the said site all logic leaves the room and a feeding frenzy ensues. Lets be honest, if half the visitors of this site bought a frs/brz the manufacturers would set records
But that's not the case, in reality it's more like the members of this site who 'might' buy the car and that's not a lot of people. So I can't blame you for being 'protective' but I will say out of respect not to be discouraging to potential buyers.

I have a few reasons for buying this car.
#1 PRICE - Far below my V6 yet it still looks 'fun.'
#2 MPG - I travel far to work and average around 20 MPG but this car would certainly boost that and every bit helps.
#3 NEW - It's different, fresh and I like it. I'm only 22 but have owned 3 new cars now. I'm a car enthusiast what can I say.

Having been promoted recently and making $200 more per week I am looking to buy a house soon and lowering my car payment, or car loan has been at the top of my list. This would help shed $100 per month, more importantly allow me to pay off within 2 years and have a clean slate to start saving for 1 year for a house.
The last thing I want to do is settle. I've been looking at cars like the Veloster which also looks very fun but I don't want to sacrifice the compact car aspect.
I've been driving coupes since day 1 and wont stop now.
I don't want to lose the Genesis but I'm young and can always get something better down the road, right now I want to make better financial decisions since I have the money to be able to and if buying the BRZ would help me do that and still let me ENJOY DRIVING then count me in.

Yes ... Hyundai's 274 'claimed hp', any wonder the Sonata 2Turbo got horrendously creamed by the 268 V6 Camry on Motortrend's comparo ... it was pretty embarassing

Anyone want the numbers

Quote:
Unfortunately for the Sonata, it was the only one that wasn't quicker than the aforementioned M5 and 500E. In fact, at 7.0 seconds to 60 and 15.4 at 91.5 mph to the quarter mile, the 2.0T barely edged the 200-horse Camry Hybrid. When comparing high-performance variants, being last is never a positive, especially when it's last by a lot. And the subpar performance wasn't just in straight-line stats; in all objective handling tests, the Sonata rose to the top in none. Hyundai eschewed a V-6 in favor of a turbo I-4, citing comparable power, less weight, and improved fuel economy. Acceleration was the slowest, and observed fuel economy nearly tied for last. And the 2.0T was indeed the lightest car of the three, but only by 35 pounds compared with the Camry.

Torque makes a big difference too, as well as the rpm it peaks at. Otherwise I agree.

So at what percent of the thread being a comparison does it become a 'comparison' thread?
50% 51%?
1%?
Do you have a funny and cool picture that represents overly sensitive and analytical individuals? Id love to post it.
In the mean time quit comparing my posts to that of others.

I didn't expect it to come in handy on my first day.

We just ask that you search first before posting a new thread. As others have stated, there are multiple threads on this very topic of the GC vs FRS/BRZ. Multiple. There is no reason why you couldn't join in those conversations as there are still several active threads on this very topic. Please next time. Otherwise it gets crowded with multiple new threads on topics that have already been discussed ad nauseum prior to new members arrivals.

That's funny. I also test drove the new 2013 GC 2.0T today. I really liked the power and it really wanted to go even at low rpms, but yeah, it definitely feels heavy and you can feel it when doing turns. Like other people said, it really does look better in person and the interior isn't that bad. They were willing to give me a really good deal right on the spot, but I must wait until I test drive the FR-S/BRZ!
