I agree with you OP but most kids on this forum don't think this way. Actually, I don't believe they do any thinking at all.

I felt my MS3 and wife's Infiniti G25 handled better for some reason. The weight of the 2013 Gen coupe was also a factor, it just feels and drive heavy.

For anyone thinking of getting the Gen Coupe just because of the HP, I suggest a long test drive. HP isn't everything, I learned this a long time ago when I gave up my Protege 5 for a more powerful car. Anyways, I think I am going to end up putting a deposit down for an FRS.

For the price, I don't think the Gen Coupe is that great of a value.
Thank you for your post, we have heard very similar comments to your post recently.

I think his suggestion for all you in the FRS price pissed off crowd.... Before you post the GC has to got this, and its got that..and it only cost this... Take this guy's comments to heart and go test drive one before you waste your money.

As for me...if someone gave me one, I would immediately turn around and sell it, because it is that ugly...ah but that's another thread...

People like you belong here, to prove other people that HP isn't everything. I like the feeling of driving small cars, not boats lol

Is the chassis tuning different between models of the same car?

Like is the cheapest Genesis a bit softer (and thus doenst handle as well) than its highest priced counterpart? (more tuned for the road).

Since everyone just loves lumping the entire model range of a car as a single one.....

You'll be sacrificing size (BRZ/FRS is pretty small compared to a Gen coupe) and power. Both should be pretty evident. The ligher weight would probably make it feel more tossable. But like the Elise people are yearning for more straight line power.

Not sure how different the handling ability will be.

Maybe, I would also like to test drive a Track 2.0T. Trust me, the cheapest Genesis is far from soft. I guess it'll be personal preference on the driver, but if someone was looking at the FRS to begin with the Gen Coupe will be a disappointment in any Model range for the price.

No problem, just trying to get the information out there. The Gen coupe is out there now, so there should be no more speculation. I can almost guarantee some people will change their minds after a long drive.

These threads are getting funnier each time I read them. No offense to the OP, but it usually seems to some young adult that is stuck on the HP number and has no idea that a true driving machine is all about.

The GC is not a bad car but a good driver is able to take something like the FR-S/BRZ and really make the thing do amazing things.

OP, consider this, the Genesis Coupe weights in at 3,362 and has 274 HP, that's a HP/Weight Ratio of 12.27. The FR-S/BRZ weights (if this is correct) 2,762 although I've heard as light as 2,606. At 2,762 it would have a HP/Weight Ratio of 13.81 and at 2,606 it would be 13.03. That's between 1.54 and 0.76 HP to Lbs difference. Any good driver would be able to make up for 0.76 to someone that is less expereinced.

Now shave a little weight, take out the back seat, change the clutch, flywheel, wheels, tires, driveline and what do you have. I very, very light nimble car. At a turbo kit and "this will desimate all at race wars". It's much easier to add HP than cut weight.

Plus the GC platform, at least from my searching is not an easy car to tune. I'd take the BRZ/FR-S anyday.

I'm only 6'-0", and the Genesis Coupe with a sunroof and the Veloster are the only cars I've ever brushed the roof in the driver's seat. The Genesis Coupe without a sunroof is fine.

It happens when they bring a car to market that has more power and less weight than most of the cars in it's class. Call the looks/options/feel/etc. what you want, but you can't deny facts.
