Yeah, and the Cossie's upper wing was higher, thats why I thought it was somethign else related. then, after searching some fords, looked at the pic again and immediately thought Merkur... the Merkur XR4Ti was an off-branded euro-spec Sierra XR4Ti, and FR turbo-4cyl, in the late 80s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merkur_XR4Ti

Correct on the Merkur XR4Ti.
For Ichi, it was a strange German Ford that made it to North America under the Merkur brand (Also the Scorpio we got briefly). Ugly as sin in my opinion but they came with a Ford 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder, and independent rear suspension. They're cheap here because people generally are turned off by the weird rear quarter windows and crazy wing, plus nobody really has a clue what they are. That car is a DeTomaso Mangusta (Italian for mongoose, 'Because they ate Cobras!' Ford power but not sure which motor. I want to say 351 but don't know enough about Ford to know whether it was a Windsor or Cleveland.) And a bit of trivia about that Camaro. It says it's a Z/28 which means it had a Chevrolet *302* cubic in V8 in it. (Not a typo.) |
