Buying an FRS

I just test drove an FR-S yesterday for the first time. I have pretty much known that I would buy an 86 since day 1. RWD. lightweight. sold. I test drove a '13 Special Edition, and found the extra bits cheese-tastic. Wouldn't touch it. I will also not drive one of these with a spoiler. The Carsmo spoiler is a bit much for me as well. So this makes my search a bit more difficult. I just missed an opportunity on a base model '13 Aquamarine, which is the exact car I would like, but now there are no '13 Aquamarine in my state. Whether its a '13 or '14, I'd like a base model, otherwise I'm paying extra for something that I don't want/need. The seats in the monogram are great, but dual climate control? Heated seats and mirrors? No. I'd consider white or dark grey as other color options on a '13.

My questions for the purists, is the touch screen in the '14s encumbering? I make it a point to not touch my phone while in the car, so I won't be touching a screen. Analog controls are so much more appealing to me.

For the Aquamarine guys, how amazing is Aquamarine in person? I'm coming from a Fiji Blue Pearl Si. I like blue.

How does Asphalt look in person?

Not interested in a BRZ seeing how there are 1/3 the number of Subaru dealers compared to Toyota where I live.

Thanks, look forward to the new community.

Welcome!

For the 2014's they're going to come with the touch screen and most of the 2013s that are on the market will as well if that's why you were looking for a 2013.
If you want a none touch screen head unit I'm sure you can find one from a user on the forum or buy an after market head unit for cheap. I don't mind the touch screen head unit in my car it's fairly user friendly and if you're using an iPod/iPhone you won't really need to ever touch the units touch screen. I love darker colors but I really love white on this car but it's all personal preference!
Good luck with your future purchase

I'm interested in the '13s because around here they are knocking $1,000 off the price. It is a bonus that it may come without a touchscreen.

I know here in SoCal when I was looking almost ever 2013 had the 2014 head unit in it. This was around December. I guess it really depends on the dealer. But if you're looking for specifically a 2013 with the older analog style head unit try to contact your local dealer and see if they can set up an out of state trade to get you a car that matches all your wants and needs most will assist a serious buyer.
