Versus a standard OEM spec alignment, a performance or track alignment optimizes the rubber to road contact better for performance driving. You would get worse tire wear without a performance alignment if you drive the car aggressively.

Changes:

Toe-in on the rear for better straight-line tracking, is usually changed to closer to zero toe for better responsiveness and less tire scrub.

More front toe-out increases turn-in for quick transitions.

Maximizing caster keeps the wheels angled in the while turned for better contact.
