I won't drive my brz in the snow because I don't want all the salt eating up my car

Funnily, I just noticed spots of rust on one pipe under the car - and well, I get it washed once a week so...the salt has done some damage. Now off to review the corrosion warranty on the car. Probably will be able to get it polished out anyway.

That is exactly it... Rwd is easier to correct and more natural to correct then fwd, you have lots of grip in fwd but when you lose it, it goes around. I have seen a girl do a 360 in the lane next to me and there was nothing she could do, we were on an icy road going straight and she hit black ice. Lucky i was in a wrx at the time.

A lot of people in a car that starts to spin, regardless of which wheels are driven, will tend to lose control of the car. The natural reaction of a lot of people tends to be to hit the brakes, which does not help at all once the spin has begun. This is part of the reason I think more people should take high-performance driving classes, preferably both on high-grip and low-grip surfaces - the correct reactions are not necessarily the instinctive ones, especially in slick, variable conditions.
