Sigh... UEL works on a turbo car as it tends to spool the turbo a bit better. EL works on an NA because it promotes scavenging. IMHO the only reason people see any gains from the UEL on this platform (so long as they're not turbo) is because they're removing the cats.

It's equivalent to dropping 500lbs of stereo equipment into the back of the car to me. Sure it's loud, but you're not making it faster

UEL headers sound broken to me. I get how it's a special subaru thing though.

You would think so, but on this platform at least, the gains between UEL and EL headers are within experimental error. Removing the cats obviously works for both, but given the right tuning, UEL's can make equal or greater power, on this platform at least.

Personally i like the boxer rumble, so UEL headers combined with a N1 will give a deep strong boxer sound, loud probably but so be it.

As for the neighbors, i try not to annoy them and in the very early mornings when i have to leave at 5am i just tip toe out of the estate.

So are you arguing that the only big difference between UEL & EL headers is the sound?

NB: This is an actual question, I'm mid-research right now, so I don't really know.
