right?
I didn't know New meant Used...

THIS OPENS SO MANY POSSIBILITIES!

For 30k you could get a million used cars that would likely be better than this. But no new cars.

nope ... its just the typical car buyer who cross shops V6 mustangs, cameros and challengers will see prices as high
because ... "For that kinda money I can buy more than 3XXHP V6"

but to those who really see this car for what it is ... its the poor mans
Cayman .. or even the VERY poor mans 911 due to the 2+2 seating
configuration..

Personally I dont think the Scion is such a bad deal... but the options I
really want is just not there (( HID & Nav ))... so I have to go Subaru..

I can't believe people think 25k is expensive for this car. What were you people thinking? For 2k less you can buy a slew of overweight FWD cars, or for a grand more you can buy a Hyundai with an identity crisis that weighs almost half a ton more.

Some people can't be pleased.

I find it funny how many American complain about the price. Nice cars are so cheap in the US.
And you guys does not have to pay several engine taxes, on top of VAT and- So high powered vehicles are not only the rich people.

In Norway a GT86 will be around 78000 USD. If we are lucky it will "only" be 73900.
A gallon is about 10USD.

In comparison a Mini Cooper S starts at 57000USD here. A normal Mini cooper at 40000 USD. A Toyota Agyo at 22600USD.

Those extra horses and extra Co2 emmision really makes the GT86 expensive. At 25k, and at about the same price as a Cooper S I would consider it a bargain!

I'm not too enthusiastic about $25k for this car... in fact, I'm getting my deposit back from the dealer soon... It's still the only new car I would buy, and it's not a terrible price, but it is a couple/few thousand $$ higher than I truly believe it should be. They seem to have put serious work into its development, which is expensive, but production itself shouldn't be high-cost considering the amount of parts-sharing that can be done between the two companies' other models.

So my plans have changed:
1. Right now I'll put money into my 260Z 2+2, the FR-S's older brother-from-another-mother.
2. Wait and see what kinds of... quirks... Subaru has engineered into this thing (weak transmissions, head gaskets, spun bearings--I'm looking at you...)
3. Wait and see if anyone else can bring a lightweight RWD coupe to market within the next 3 years. (I've heard rumors that a new Silvia has been semi-developed for a few years now, waiting for this exact market to re-emerge.) It's not always about who does it first, but who does it best. If no one else comes out to play I'll either get a Release Series so I can have an interesting color, or a used red '13 model so I can spend less $$.

I feel like most of these people complaining are window shopping and could never afford the car from the start. They are just complaining for the sake of complaining. Anyone who recognizes the money that goes into development, shipping, manufacturing & marketing would realize this car is a performance bargain.

But no, most people don't think that way. I really hope this car doesn't flop because the majority of people are too hard headed to realize what this car is really worth. This is a forum after all, what do you really expect. A bunch of know-it all whinebags.
