Disclaimer - I've been with Toyota since 3/22/02 so tomorrow marks 10 years with Toyota. I've been with Scion since October of 2005 when my dealership built a new facility and added the Scion franchise.
What would be the benefit of that, unless they made some minor design changes to distinguish the FR-S from a GT86.

My MKV GTI was $26k and it was FWD, didn't look as good, and didn't handle as well.
really is a drop in the bucket in the long run?

The GT86 has more equipment like the push button start, dual CC, etc. All the stuff people are saying that they want but can't get in a Scion. It will be a higher price point, of course.

That price is way way too high for this car. Too little performance for the money. That said, they'll sell it to the fanboys and window shoppers no prob. So much for targeting the "pure enthusiasts".

Another person from the gimme 300bhp/2500lbs/$14.5k/2+2 RWD Coupe

Which new rwd coupe are you now going to buy instead, that is less than $24.2k USD, weighs less than 2700lbs, and has more than 200hp?

I thought it was the pure enthusiasts and fanboys who will buy it. Window shoppers won't cause they will look at the HP and MSRP and say "I can get X car with more HP for less $."

BRZ limited weights in at 2686lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. FRS could weigh ~30-40lbs less than that.
