Nothing is more important than appropriate tires for the conditions, they are a minor investment when you consider one insurance deductible and rate hike more than covers their cost let alone potentially avoiding injury to yourself or others.
How they didn't score worse in the ice/snow categories is beyond me. The back end would come out from simply rolling off the clutch. Luckily for me however I have a second vehicle.

This is why I swapped out the OEM Primacy tires for Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires when I bought the car. Compare the PSS tires to the stock on Tirerack.com and you will be amazed at the difference. My PSS tires stick to the road like glue.

OP, sorry to see the damage to your car. It pains all of us enthusiasts every time we see one of the twins get banged up.

Why are you all talking about the Michelins?

The OP quite clearly shows in the pics he has the abysmal Turanza EL400 which somehow comes on base model civics up to at least some lexus. THAT is a shit tire, the primacy is only meh unless you are talking bang for buck, then its bad.

OP your dad is gonna be pissed, good luck man

Theres stock michelins compared to stock turanzas (last fallish).

Neither should be used in the winter. In the case of the turanzas they just plain shouldn't be used, they are turrible.

Well thankfully my dad was understanding, and was very cool about it, I'm the one that's really hurt (emotionally). But yeah this really sucks :'(... any idea and how much this would cost.

You need to get a quote and start there. You can contact your insurance and see if they recommend a body shop. Unless you have some fly by night company, you can usually get all the way through the quote process witht hem before deciding to actually put in the claim. Once you put in the claim (for an at fault accident) it'll effect your rates unless it was a weather related accident (sometimes during ice storms or other such, insurance will have leniency) or you have some kind of first accident forgiveness program.

You may be able to buy the program after the fact, which I why I recommend you talk to the insurer, then get a quote, then make your decision.

I'm assuming your dad is paying for the car (not a bad thing) and he will probably know the best way to handle the insurance situation. Looks like you'll likely have to pay out of pocket to avoid insurance rate spike. I can't say that I know that for sure though, that's just what I've heard.

Thanks, luckily my uncle's cousin is a mechanic, so I'm making my appt with gieco now to check it out at his shop, hope all goes well and the rates don't increase dramatically.

I had a similar accident with mine and it turns out I damaged the steering rack and lca. My insurance only made me pay the 600 dollar deductible whereas I would've been paying 4300 dollars. Did you cluster light up after the accident?

My deductible is 250$, by cluster you mean the gauges? no nothing lit up, just body damage and i think the axle is broken or maybe it could've the steering rack as you said.

I went through Toyota to get it fixed with insurance. They took a month to fix her but were easy to deal with and she drives just as good as day 1. After the incident my insurance only went up about 50 dollars more a month
