We have lots of them in SoCal. They're often hit on the road. Thankfully I've never hit one, but sometimes you go past and can't help but hit some of the pieces. Sometimes just going past is enough to stink it up for a good 5 min.
Smells like weed! (So I've heard. . .) |

I'm afraid, you're going to have to bear it out. I hit a live one on my way to work once in my HCH. I hosed down the undercarriage several times but the smell remained for daaaays. The only thing on your side is Time. Oh yeah, like he said, don't park in the garage or confined spaces. And the jury is still out about leaving the windows open. You don't want the smell (which is outside) coming in and stinking up the interior. Just keep recirculating on.

Gofind a fat friend. Tell him to work out everyday for a week and not shower, then stick your nose in their arm pit and huff. Multiply that oder by 5.
As for the tomato juice suggestions, do remember that it is highly acidic.

Didnt smell actually, 99% fur was caught up on it. only a little flesh.
Yea, it took out the bottom grill, both fog lights, put some deer bits in my radiator (not damaged, does not need repairing, washed right out) and vaulted my passenger into the ceiling of the car. It bounced off the car in the oncoming lane onto the ground right in front of me. so I did literally run it over. I swerved (but not into the other lane due to more cars) and it hit on my passenger side. Suspension is pretty good on this car. |

I once lived in an area where dead skunks in the road were a daily driving hazard.
If you hit one its going to smell for quite a while. My experience was that the dead skunk spots on the road smelled for over a month as you drove by.First order of business is getting as much of the skunk spray (butyl mercaptan) off of your car as possible. Get to a car wash that has an under spray or go to a do it yourself car wash and throughly wash the areas of the undercarriage that touched the skunk. Do not do this in your driveway unless you want to bring down the wrath of your wife and neighbors. After washing, change out your cabin air filter (located behind the glove box). Even after all this you will likely notice the odor of skunk for a month or two every time it rains and the "skunked" areas of the undercarriage get wet.

Smells like dank weed. If you have ever spent much time in a college dorm/frat house hall you will know exactly what I am talking about. I hit one fresh in my Jeep with all the windows down once. I had to wash it a couple times and I ended up shampooing the seats and all the carpets to get rid of the odor. I pity you, but if your windows were up at the time hopefully the damage is limited. |

I feel like most of you are over exaggerating the smell of skunk, it is not pleasant, you know the scent when it hits you and it can be smelled literally a mile away.

Did you hit the legs then?
Cause if you hit the body I feel like it would of done a lot more than that since the is only 5 inches of ground clearance Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk |
