^ That's why ppl use full stand-alone or sub-ecu and leave the main ecu alone. I'm praying that Cuz of this, Subie's ecu won't be hard to crack from 2011~

As for standalone's, no big deal. May have to wait a bit for a plug and play unit but it won't be too bad. For example, a P&P Haltech Platinum Sport 2000 for my car is $1900 installed with a base tune. It's the rest of the turbo install that may be a pain, strictly from a packaging/fabrication standpoint. I'm still worried about the strength of this new transmission. |

Looks like I have some reading up to do about Subaru engines lol. I'm not to familiar with Subarus.
Aren't Subaru's fairly easy to tune using the stock ecu. The transmission is another area of concern. I know the wrx transmissions have been known to be weak whereas the sti transmissions are better and ca handle more power. |

An advantage the transmission will have is not having AWD that will be trying to break it on hard launches. Wheelspin will be the fuse, at least for a stock car. But if this car comes out NA and with no plans for a turbo (god forbid...) the transmission (and diff) may end up being the weak link, even if you boost the motor yourself. |

Like I said, tranny will be built by Aisin AI. Some of the JDM FR companies uses them (Nissan, Mazda, Toyota, Mitsubishi) and GM too. Tranny gonna be the least of my worry

This was the transmission of the gods. NA got the W58. Not known to handle much more than 50% over stock torque. If this car is destined to be a NA only 2.0L there is no reason for Toyota or Subaru to ask Aisin to build it to take more than 200 lb-ft, there is no reason for it to be super strong. I'm just throwing out worst case scenarios, so we'll all be that much happier when the 305 hp, bulletproof 6 speed, 2.5L Turbo Sti/TRD, easily tuned with a Cobb Accessport, version comes out. (pleaaaaase...) |

i would much rather have the JDM 2.0 sti engine than the 2.5
![]() and as far as power goes, if it comes factory 270hp....its already pretty impressive for me. No need for 300hp/300tq. |

I'm almost positive they'll call this car something cool in Japan. They don't really use the alpha-numeric names over there too much...ie: Sylvia vs 240SX, Fairlady Z vs. 300ZX or 350ZX, Integra vs. RSX, Trueno/Levine vs. Corolla GT-S, etc, etc...so we can debadge ours and get JDM badges to put on the car...that's what I did to my IS
