The FR-S, even though the engine is based on Subaru EJ, may not be compatable for swaps from older Subarus. Let me explain.
The newest evolution of the EJ block, used in the new Legacy GT, uses a front-mounted turbo - this means less lag, but no burble; and it would get in the way of the older Subie subframes. SO, new EJ's in Lecagys use a different mounting place. There's to mounts in the back sides like earlier EJ's but then one front and center just under the crankshaft pulley (is what it looks like to me). This is probably what Toyota took to modify, because it's the newest. Furthermore, the exhaust manifold shown in pictures of Geneva auto show etc. looks like the new Legacys and not like older subies. |

How about you stop talking shit? Your "Opinion" does not define what a sports car is. This is why Mustangs, Holdens and Falcons are generally called "muscle cars" and not sports cars. They miss the most essential component of a sports car; handling. Everybody knows the MR-S came with a piss weak engine from the factory. So does the Miata. A powerful engine does not a sports car make. In either case, the power is a turbo or a 2ZZ swap away. anyway.. back on topic. Anybody stop to think that FR-S might be for another car that can drop the top? |

Haha, no, what are you thinking? Of course since Toyota might be planning on using the name FR-S and trademarked it, that's applicable to the FT86. No possibility of it being for anything else.

Yeah, true that Japan get those awesome cars than rest of the world... but sadly, this TF300 only came out on Europe only. TTE stands for Toyota Team Europe.

Well, back to topic. I think they should officially unveil the name already. What takes them so long? |

The only concern I have is that if toyota doesn't release a turbo version, then it could be fairly hard to turbo unless you run a full stand alone. Toyota sucks when it comes to making their car (at least recent ones anyway) tunable. If it comes turbo, then upgrading the turbo and stuff should be no problem. It's when you try to add a turbo that things get messy. Toyota really needs to make their ecu's flash-able, if only for this car. Hopefully since Toyota is using a Subaru engine, Subaru will also help develop the ECU. Does anyone know anything about the ECU?
Side note: A EJ20H (twin turbo) would be pretty sweet! |

side note: No, I don't want twin turbo on boxer. It's already complicated engine as is, I don't want another JDM Legacy. Also there you gonna put 2 turbos in there? Subaru have hard time putting one turbo in. Last time they put 2 turbos in their car, they regret doing it. I prefer Supercharger instead. Cuz if you set up the SC well, SC will cancel the crappy low end tq on 2L engine. That's the main problem people are complaining w 2L turbo WRX & STI. |

Why isn't the FT-86 name or FR-S name listed in Toyota's website of concept cars?? Do we have higher hopes for this car to be produced then we should?? The closest thing on the Toyota website is the FT-HS which is a similar looking hybrid. I am debating between buying a Genesis coupe now or waiting on FT-86.

Stay far,far away from the genesis, they are crap. They look nice and has some power but quality is shit and you will regret it, trust me, if you have a car right now keep it and keep saving, look for the new rx-7 in 2012 to turn heads
