I traded in my 2013 WRX on my 2014 FR-S. The kick in the pants you get when the turbo hits full spool is fantastic. Having four doors (even though I think I had someone sit in the back on inly four occasions) is nice to have, and so is the cargo space if you have a hatch (I did). The AWD system is ok, but makes steering feel slightly numb compared to the FR-S. But there is a fun factor with the 86 platform you're not going to get with the WRX. The 86 is better on gas. Slightly cheaper to insure. Gets a lot more comments. And surprisingly, I have more leg/knee room in the FR-S. WRXs are great cars, but if you're looking for fun and a sporty feel get a FR-S/BRZ.

Oh, and unless you're on winter or at least all season tires, AWD can be just as bad as RWD in the snow.

im not saying i disagree with your conclusion, im just saying that your evidence provided at the time doesnt support it anymore than the evidence i used to come to my conclusion.

I miss the car but the FRS is much more fun to drive in my opinion.
Yup. I had a swap with a WRX motor in it, and granted it had a Walbro and bigger injectors, but 14mpg of Premium gas was harsh.

Shaddap, Velostar driver!

My 2.0 WRX got on the highway what this car gets in the city when I mash the throttle and shift like an idiot.

Yeah I traded a stage II 2007 WRX for my BRZ.

Honesty I don't even miss the power/torque. I wanted something more efficient and RWD for a change. The WRX got 19-20 mpg city the BRZ 27-28 city. My WRX trapped 99mph while my BRZ 96mph (stock on e85 tune) so the difference in top end is not that great.

My second car is a Camry so practicality who cares!

The numb steering feel isn't caused by the AWD, it's caused by the chassis and steering setup. The BRZ/FR-S has a better chassis and steering setup, so it responds better to steering inputs. Supposedly, the 2015 WRX improves this to a great extent, but I'm reserving my judgment on that until I've driven one...

I spoke directly on the phone with a trusted contact who was invited to drive both the 2015 WRX and 2015 STI and he told me he is selling his BRZ and buying an STI. And this guy loved his BRZ to death. I think that says something He also told me the new WRX with a few suspension mods, would be pretty close to his BRZ.

Great for him, but Honestly its still an EJ motor. I would like to have the 2015 WRX, but it would be a lateral move. I think I'd love the extra power and AWD, but Stock vs. Stock I'd love the way the BRZ feels more.

I had a 2006 WRX. Miss the torque/turbo and AWD in the winter but that's about it. The BRZ is actually a ton of a fun in the winter but I do miss not having to dig my car out of the snow. Overall, the BRZ is a lot more fun to drive. Better driving position, feel, responsiveness, handling, etc. They overlapped for about a week and when I got back into my WRX, I was surprised at how clunky, heavy, weird it felt in comparison.

I drove a 05 STI stage 1 before and the only thing I like about it was the power and the awd. That's pretty much it. There was a lot of room like what other guys said, but for me, I wouldn't utilize any of those space. And since there's a lot of snow where you live, why not do something like this to travel around lol

Had a 2011 WRX Hatch. Loved the practicality of it and gripped really well.

That being said, I was super bored with driving it every day. For it to become my ideal car, I would have spent another 6 grand on suspension, exhaust, and other bits. It's not what I wanted in the end.

Then again, I've ONLY owned RWD cars, so that is what I'm used to and come to love. Yes, my first car was a V6, RWD car called the Mazda MPV Seriously, it was an awesome first car...I learned a lot without crashing it

Yep, had a 09 stage 2 WRX HB. Car had a lot of character. But so does the BRZ.
