The car is driven daily. Thoughts?
What size wheel and tire?

There are better options than the Sumitomo for the price. The V12's are good but there are better tires for the price. Depends on purpose too.

i.e. 225/40R18 in Tirerack
Dunlop DZ101 - $106
Bridgestone RE760 - $127
Dunlop DZ102 - $131
Conti Extreme Contact - $132
Hankook Ventus V12 - $133
Bridgestone Pole Position S04 - $144

(Regarding polyurethane bushing inserts vs the PSRS system)

I wouldn't recommend the psrs on a street car if they're anything like the ones ALTA makes for the MINI (they look similar). The polyurethane ones, while being much stiffer than rubber, still absorb vibrations but are a big improvement over stock for steering feel. The psrs are metal on metal (harsh nvh) and tend to rattle when they get worn in.

The car is mostly daily driven. Not looking for a track monster but it would be a nice change to avoid going sideways when jumping into traffic from a side street. The new tires will be 245/40 17 so the bigger contact patch should grip more than the stock tires in pretty much any case.
Can results from different Tire rack results be combined? e.g. Can the times from one dry run be compared to another in a different test? Stopping distances seem like a safe comparison as they usually use the same cars. Sure, temp difference per day, etc have some affect but with only a few tires in each test, it is tough to compare. The worst of one test might be better than the best of the next test. Consumer reports has different rankings too.

I put V12s on my E90 (coming from OEM Bridgestone RE050A runflats). They were good, more comfortable of course (compared to runflats), but turn in was noticeably less sharp/slower on the street.

For 245/40R17, I like the Conti Extreme Contact DW.

It's $504 for a set vs $464 for the V12s). Plus, there's a mail-in rebate ($65 gift MasterCard) for Canadians here:

I just heard that Conti DW goes through rubber quickly, so you'll probably have to contact Continental and ask for a partial refund when your tires get down to the metal after 24000 kms (thats what happened to me !).

I believe Andre has Conti DW and they've held up much better than my Pilot Super Sports tracking at Calabogie (with same lowering springs and alignment specs).

Yes I did get a partial refund. I've never tracked with previous MZ3... Just street spirited driven.. I was impressed with the grip for the price but not by the durability of the tires.
