i was referring more towards the FR-S direct competition based on price Cooper S Genesis Mustang Camaro RX-8 Miata GTI FR-S is better than all of them imo, the gti is great cause you can get 4-door, but for driving the FR-s is superior it is simply fantastic Last edited by titusdrake; 03-21-2012 at 01:58 PM. |

How is the shifter and the clutch feel? I plan on this being my first manual car and I am hoping this is an easy car to drive as a manual.

I was talking about looks not performance. I know those two cars are faster than the BRZ.

Thanks for the write up. I didn't knew all FR-S came with the red stitching.
On another note, I think I'm gonna have nightmares of that gaudy head unit! |

Look up this thread, post # 36 by Jehuty77 who's been to a special event at the Toronto Event. He got to sit in a FR-S and got some extra info from a Scion rep. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...o+event&page=2 Last edited by Lo; 03-21-2012 at 05:21 PM. Reason: Info source added |

FYI, most BMW's and even some Ferrari come with this (super annoying) phenomena. The information is that this is due to the modern environmentally-friendly paint. I will have our car prepped and wet sanded likely right after delivery at a wonderful local paint correction and detail guy, I will be sure to let everyone know how it comes out! ![]() Thanks for your feedback Titus, we appreciate it! Can't wait... Just got told by Scion "beginning of June"

Awesome! Just read your post. You are one lucky dude. You also mentioned the issue with the steering wheel. I guess another seat would take care of the issue with super low down seat rails. Or wait for someone to make an aftermarket steering wheel hub, modify one, or mix/match from another car, or maybe one for a TC would fit, and run a D-Shaped steering wheel? I don't know. Just throwing it out there. It's a tough one because the stock steering wheel looks engineered really well. Also sounds like they really nailed the rack and steering ratio, along with height, weight, combination of all to create a great steering feedback.
Throughout many forums, blogs, etc. folks write about how they want to drift it or toss it around the canyons. I'd laugh when folks own it less than 10 days and crash the darn car. More accidents on these suckas will raise the insurance rates for everyone else that buys one of these. Or drive themselves off a cliff and take the new FRS/BRZ with them down the canyon (then when youngsters want to buy them, parents will say nope because its dangerous to drive one of those, lolz). C'mon people. Enjoy the damn car for what its intended or designed for. Don't start acting like gangstas and just destroy the damn thing. I'm not hating. Just a lot of the comments are coming from young guys that are possibly getting their first car for their grad present lolz. And for those that want to boost it already, wait until you drive it, have had it for a while, and sit and wait. Products will come down the pipeline. With more options. And less headaches and problems for you guys. C'mon. You act like you can just slap a turbo on there with a makeshift exhaust manifold, intercooler piping, etc. Don't forget, ECU would be your biggest problem. Unless you have a blow your bank account custom ECU wired. C'mon if you ain't a pro drifter with hella money backing you, it ain't going to happen. It's ok to dream guys. But seriously, buy it, drive it, enjoy it and add the power as you go. I bet for most, including myself, suspension work and some bolt ons would yield plenty of fun based on folks feedback like yourself titusdrake. I look forward to messing with one. I have exchanged conversations with a good friend of mine that I've known for 20 years plus. He is looking at purchasing one and we will exchange some thoughts on parts we could possibly manufacture for it. No promises. But he makes and sells turbos, kits, suspension and stuff now. It wouldn't be too hard. But I guess thats what many folks want to do; or itching to do. This new car is bringing excitement and anticipation back! Tell you guys one thing I have in mind: Designing a bolt on supercharger kit with plans to add maybe 50-75 ponies utilizing a Rotrex supercharger with oil recirculation (maybe with a small intercooler depending on costs, reliability, etc.), pack of new injectors, piping, downpipe, pullies, belts, brackets, hardware and something for the ecu and/or to compensate for fuel/throttle, etc. All while using 91 premium gasoline. To have the dependability and reliabiility. To keep A/C and Power Steering and everything else. Why Supercharger instead of Turbo? With a car as balanced as the FRS (based on numerous reports, feedback, test drives, Mr. Ken Gushi, haha, etc.), adding just a bit more horsepower will really turn this car in to a monster. Anymore than what I'm suggesting will probably destroy the nifty handling and daily driveability of this car. And as balanced as it sounds, I think many will enjoy the instant throttle response of another 50 ponies on top. Seriously do you guys think you'd enjoy the FRS more if we can get it dyno'd at 250+/- with 210+/- lb. tq.? That'll give it a nice powerband for the twisties or occasional canyon cruises, hence I said cruises. |
