I guess it just comes down to how crazy you want to get with the car.

@CSG Mike
Is there anything that's more complicated than motion ratio in terms of suspenion? Or is that as bad as it gets?

See all that seems more docile than motion ratio...although roll center is a doozy...

Watch out for roll centers. Is it not the center which the car rotates about but the point at which the car rotates about at that particular point in time depending on what the car is doing. That is, the roll center can move about, off center line as well. Should be called instantaneous roll point.

Virtual centers (roll center is one type) for geometry are a PITA. Take point A and point B, draw an imaginary line until it intersects another imaginary line off of another set of points, in 3 dimensions, and can possibly end up underground or in the middle of the car. And the initial points change as the suspension moves, so a degree of recalculation needs to be done for different suspension positions. And those virtual centers then affect how other points with virtual centers move.
Fun times.

Will the Bilstein B14 PSS work well with 215/45-17 Michelin Pilot Super Sports on 14 lb Kosei K4r 17X7 wheels?
What would be a good Sway bar setup for the above parts? Goals for car are: -DD with 4-5 track days a year max -Good ride quality for crap Detroit roads -Equal steering response to stock or better -Neutral to slight oversteer handling I am also open to other coilover options under or around 1500$. Thanks

CSG and RCE tag-team suspension Q&A thread! Ask us anything!
I am getting a lot of mixed responses when it comes to a question I have and was wondering if you guys could help out.
I have some RCE tarmac 2 going on once the weather gets nice and will be doing some occasional autocross and possibly track days. The car is more of a weekend driver. I am looking for a decent lightweight rim for autocross and track days/occasional weekend driving. The RpF1's are great rims but I am leaning toward the TsW nurburgrings (simply aesthetics in this case) in a 18x8 w/ 35mm offset(18.6lbs).Would the 10mm difference in offset be detrimental in comparison to the 45mm. Also the 1 inch increase from 17 as well. I am also looking for tire suggestions as well if you have any. Probably looking to get some Michelin pilot super sports in 225/40/18. (Another mixed area as some people say drop in the widest tire possible and others disagree.) I appreciate your time and insight. Thanks in advance. |
