I don't know why people are getting so worked up about the price. It will be 25k +/- 2k most likely. There will be a premium on the car until supply catches up. What other new care are you going to buy at the price that is RWD, light, and normally aspirated that is as balanced handling wise? If that's too much money buy something else or get a different job.

"get a different job" argument really annoys me, lets not be assholes about it. A lot of the folks on this board make plenty of money, aren't young kids and definitely CAN afford more. People have money because they look for value, which is what the FRS potentially offers at 23k, but that value doesn't hold at 27k (the +/- 2k) |

I've tried to move on but whenever I looked and went for a test drive, there just wasn't a car that measured up to what I believe this car will be (a 4-seater coupe miata). Used cars that are similar in price are all crashed/salvaged/rebuilt, too old, impractical, unreliable, unsafe, or "unfun".
Then there's the hassle of buying that used car, transferring tags, insurance, registration and then selling your previous car. And then buying a used FR-S/BRZ? Now I have to prepare to find some junked up, theft recovered, abused, and crashed ones that dealers and private sellers think should be sold at KBB "very good" condition. Might get lucky and find a good one, but how much less than the new invoice would it be? Buying a different used car is a good choice for some people but for me, I'm waiting until the car comes out to make a final decision. Nothing else to me seems to measure up. Now quote me for the record so i don't flip-flop and go looking for Miatas, RX-8s and Celicas!

Thinking of refreshing the 1999 Miata a bit, and driving it a few more years...

Holy hell, speaking of dealer markup did you guys see this:
![]() from autoblog http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/21/m...ce-of-prius-c/ if some dealer has the balls to put 7k on a prius C, I feel like a 5k markup on a car that is actually in demand isnt going to be uncommon... If anyone actually buys that car with that markup they're complete fools, but that's another story... |

Yeah, f that. anyone that pays a 7k mark up on a 21k car deserves it. You could, in Miami, drive 15 minutes and find another dealership.
