Ebrake adjustment Fail.
Decided to get my scheduled service done on my FR-S today. This included brakes, oil change etc. Driving home on the Freeway my car starts to vibrate like the wheel was out of balance so I took the nearest exit and pulled into a gas station. The back end of my car is smoking like crazy. Rear left wheel is very hot so I suspect that someone has messed up the brakes or ebrake adjustment and I was grinding down my pads and rotor for the last 20 miles. I was furious. Service dept at Toyota was already closing when I called them and the person on the phone asked if my ebrake was on and suggested I call roadside assistance and get my car taken there and come back in the morning to get it looked at or get a loaner if I needed one. I lost it on the poor guy as I was on the other end of the city where my home is and it would be more than a bit inconvenient if I had to find a way to get back and forth across the city the dealership to get a problem they created resolved. He was nice enough to offer to have a loaner set aside with someone in the showroom that I could come and get and leave my broken car. I still want to punch something in the face and I am seriously considering never letting dealerships service my car again.

Well, that's got to be a pain .....
![]() Sounds like a rear caliper froze up or the e-brake adjuster on the left rear got set too tight. I hope they get it sorted out and fixed soon. Let us know what the problem was. humfrz |

This isn't the first time i've heard of this happening, I've seen 1 or 2 more reports just like this of the dealerships fucking up the break and or e-break adjustments.

So the end of my story is they fixed my car no charge. Apparently no damage was done to the brake themselves as they are a separate system from the ebrake which is a pad and drum. They root cause was ebrake was too tight and was rubbing and heated up. They inspected everything but never replaced any parts. They logged the mistake they made on my service records and have committed to fix at their cost any problems that may that develop on that wheel.
