Do NOT track the car with the axleback removed and no pipe installed, you WILL damage the rear bumper and/or the wiring to the tail lights/reverse lights. I've seen it happen too many times. Any exhaust shop should be able to fab up a track pipe in a couple of minutes, shouldn't cost more than $20-$40, if you can't get someone to lend you one.

Not sure what drivability you think it's going to affect other than noise, there's no real noticeable power/throttle response difference and it takes weight away from the light end of the car, but there's my option.

He's right a shop can make one in a few minutes for less than 60 that you can bolt up.

On the note of meeting up.. we could just hang out at my place Saturday instead getting ready for the IFO meet Sunday. BBQ, Relax and just enjoy the day.

Thanks!! I had also been concerned about screwing with the balance since we'll be taking the junk in the trunk out too. I think that's required, otherwise I'd probably leave it in.
I was wondering mostly if there'd be any better throttle response.

I tracked with everything in. Spare, jack, 2 12" subs, amp. Everything. lol. I got great grip on stock tires 😄👍

Seat of the pants feel may be different, but in reality, there's a negligible difference in throttle response. I've found that the car is really tail happy when you remove the 40-50 pounds of muffler, spare tire/tools and rear seats. I'd leave the stock muffler in place, all the easy to remove weight is on the tail of this car, so there IS some balance issues.

Out original plan had been to run bone stock Saturday, then put the intake tube, drop in filter, wheels and tires, an maybe that muffler delete on Sunday. But at this point I think we'll just run as is for the whole weekend.

Ok, since 3 people so far won't be going to the Tucson BWW meet on Friday, let's skip this week. I can use the time at home, since I'm working this weekend so no IFO for me either

You should go. I live around Carefree Hwy and I-17 and go to both Piggly in Mesa and Native New Yorker in Glendale.
