Totally false.

Distilled water is NOT non-conductive. I used to be in the water industry. Pure water generated from burning Hydrogen in a pure Oxygen environment will yield water with a resistance of ~ 18 MegaOhms at room temperature. You use conductivity to measure how pure water is. I did this for years with the power industry deionized water supplies or really any industry that uses PURE water. Distilled water is far from pure, I was working with reverse osmosis and then deionization beds to get the most pure water on earth.

SIDE FACT: Drinking PURE water will actually slowly kill you but if you use it to brew stuff, that's a totally different story. Makes the best coffee or tea for sure!

That being said, you got lucky with your environment. Most of the time, dust will contain conductive or semi conductive elements in its mix and if there is enough mixed with water, it will create a nasty concoction. Even CO2 when mixed with water will conduct a charge.

Of course, this isn't meant to say you're stupid for watercooling your PC. It's great and all but I didn't see the worthiness of doing it for my situation. It does look awesome though.

Given the winter we've had, I've wanted to use outdoor air to cool my rig at times. That would be totally cool.

Just saw this thread while looking around.

Guess who's RAID 0 array failed last night and killed his OS? This guy <---

Data is backed up at least but this looks promising: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...06&postcount=6

What did everyone think of Titanfall? I got to play the beta and it's not worth the money in my eyes.

This is why I run my system as is: SSD for OS, a RAID 1 for data, and a RAID 0 for other software (mainly games).

Titanfall.... played the beta on Xbox One and my computer... meh. Not worth $60 IMO. Maybe $30-$40 since there is a season pass -_-

Actually, the conductivity is so low that it is considered non-conductive for a while, it isn't till it gets ionized with the board metals that it becomes conductive enough to cause any damage.

Water cooling for the average user is overkill, though. It isn't till you start pumping 1.8V through the CPU when benchmarking that Water cooling becomes esential

I'm done with custom loop. AIO is the way to go, unless I plan on getting another GTX780, which is unlikely for my current set up.

Huge difference between non-conductive and low conductive. What actually happens when the water hits the board materials is it actually dissolves a fraction of the materials it comes in contact with so unless your board is epoxy coated (the INDUSTRIAL strength water resistant way), the metals will dissolve into the water making it drastically drop from 18 MegOhms to a lot less.

I read the forums at Overclockers.net and it drives me crazy how people say stuff like that. There is plenty of evidence in the industrial world where DI water (read: de-ionized water which is better in resistance than distilled) has destroyed electrical equipment.

Nonetheless, your assumption that you will always spot a leak right away and quickly shut off power can be dangerous. Say the leak develops overnight and then you turn it on the next day, boom. That is why I didn't see any advantage for me to do this. I tip my hat to those that have done it and reliably so as it takes way more diligence than I have patience for. It's quite an art.

It's always a risk... but hey, it's been a year of 24/7 operation and no leaks.

Glad to hear you say that, I was beginning to feel inadequate. I am only running an i7 2600 Sandy-Bridge and a Radeon 6870. Not overclocking or anything and I can usually run games on Ultra settings. So I don't know what on earth you guys are doing with all that powa!

I kinda agree but I think custom loops are fun to play around with if you have the extra cash. Performance wise it's not worth it. It's kinda like legos for grown ups so it's justifiable

My first custom loop

Second

Now i'm having fun trying to get the most out of less space

Currently my main PC. Using a H100i but i'll most likely go with an even smaller case. Might have to go custom loop again to deal with heat in a smaller case.

Took a leap of faith and gave Titanfall a shot. I've played maybe 20-25 matches so far, and I'm hooked. Not normally a huge multiplayer fan, but this is a riot.

Playing it on my old Asus RoG G73JH and it runs fantastic on medium settings. Can't wait to fire it up on my built PC...
