Electric cars don't save the planet. The creation of the batteries used in them destroy the planet far worse.

Not, if you dispose of it, or recycling it properly.

When talks of hybrid technologies were more new I was against it for a sports car because I felt it took something away from the cars, I couldn't imagine a super car flying by without an audible noise but a faint hum similar to my electric toothbrush. but now as the hyper cars and hybrid technologies are emerging and they are combining current technologies with upcoming technologies, it really is becoming incredibly exciting.

The way we look at delivery power to a vehicle is being forever changed. Stupid amounts of torque that are available instantaneously from a low rpm is a very very amazing thing

I heard they were putting an 8.6 liter in to keep with the 86 theme. The info came from my friend who is the cousin of the CEO of Toyota America who was the adopted son of Tada. It's supposed to generate 860hp and 86tq.

These Star Trek posts high hoping a hybrid Porsche tyoe 918 spyder for the refresh are just plain childish. It not going to happen imho. This a budget little sporty GT. Turn it I to a space aged hybrid and thy will sell a few dozen a year, that's real expensive dev and parts cost. Toyota working on a BMW M2 shared Supra not another LFA.

Be realistic the budget sporty little cars are all moved to DIT. Subaru has a 290sh 2L Fa and 200ish hp 1.6L hp dit, both with better torque curves than out cars and probably both less expensive without the D4-S. An FA 1.8L DI turbo 1.8 L subraru with a nice torque line and 250 hp could already be on the shelf.

But I think a hydrid type porshe spyder is not in the works. The high hoping is worse than Colorado right now. You do rize a high performance electric motors uses more energy (coal and natural gas) than a DIT. Obama gave GM billions of dolllars and GM designed DIT engines not a Porsce spyder no one can afford.

And this will come from Subaru, I thi,k Toyota got out of the turbo game with the subra. 20 fricken years ago. Maybe they will join the rest of the world and join the DIT technology but if Subaru already has the technology Toyota probably will do as much for this refresh as the initial mechanics, very little. My money is still on this becoming a BRZ only club.

I guess you kids are free to post Colorado Mile High Posts but is almost laughable,

LOL.. This info is about as accurate as everyones else's engines wish list for this car..
I'm quite happy with it the way it is.. Im loving keeping my foot in it most of the time.. it moves when you push it.. without turbo lag or a trunk full of
car batteries.. why not enjoy it for what it is..

LOL. The Chinese will get right on that.

I had pizza tonight with the head of Toyota R&D and several other people I can't name. I was told in no uncertain terms that this is what will power the next-gen FR-S.

This is the first and only thread I've seen on the forum that only gets one star. It's well deserved.

or realize that every Toyota , Subau, and supplier involved has signed an NDA (google it.) This is just internet speculation and I am right The star treck car prediction was the funniest, goes against ever concept this car was born for.

Those "radioactive" batteries can be shot up into outer space so no worries, who cares if it takes more energy than than a few 24 hour lemans runs.

I'm calling one of Subaru's DIT FA motors as I have the last 2 years, sticking to my guns and going to be an optimist.

Yes, actually, the on-going development for the update will include many very minor revisions, and much like that of the development updates for Porsche cars, the parts for the new editions in many cases, will be retrofit compatible.

Some will be handling improvements or retune for a different taste (of which in stock form will not be so usefully different since most of the people here are more akin to more drastic customization) but if things like lengths of lower arms, uppers, links or sub-frame are changed, it will be nice for us to combine new and old to align things to personal tastes more...

Because of the market shifts and restyle needs for refresh, cosmetics will also be addressed. One in particular, which isn't related to USA but in Japan, the front marker lamp being placed really low on the bumper for the 86/FRS makes lowering the car "technically" illegal in home market. While this is not a huge issue for the authorities who tend to not give much attention there, it is more a classification and ruling for many of the grassroots activities there like Gymkhana, where Stock Class regulations need to be street legal. BRZ has a turn signal in the front lamp assembly so they have been fine, while the 86 was an issue, so this might be revised so that the 86 will have new headlights to incorporate and address that.

Some parameter changes that will not add power but for CEL trigger parameter to be wider ranged and not so sensitive. Most of the CEL triggers are caused for stipulations and overly critical Emissions standards of the USA, and triggered by random occurrences that really have nothing to do with operation of the vehicle. So some of these might be addressed.

We've seen 18% fatter drive-shafts on the Subaru BRZ tS editions to improve rigidity of the rear axles, and indirectly also improves shift linkage feel.

To also credit Subaru, the production facilities will get a infusion of better assembly robots to replace a lot of the human labor that's been unusually costly for the BRZ/FRS being so drastically different from the Forester and XV Cross Trek that are built on the same line. So we should expect similar pricing despite the improvements in many areas.

Power upgrade? (I can't tell you but time will tell.

Steering rack bushing will also be updated, for firmer response with track compound tires. (it won't make much of a difference for users of street tires though, since it's pretty fast and responsive already.)

So those are the likely items we might see in the next update.

Thanks Moto-P. Do you know of a time frame of when this is expected to occur? MY 2015 or 2016 or beyond?
