Cobb's model is basically the same but with base maps. As much engineering to protect "IP" as developing the product.

Slightly OT, but this is why I'm looking at the MoTeC M1: just replace the OEM ECU and get on with it. Granted, it's not for everyone.

A plug and play standalone does not require you to get rid of the OBDII port. It will either not communicate with the emissions computer or, if it does, will probably not tell it that all tests have been performed and found to be passing.

I just priced the two out. BRZ Edit $495 according to their webpage +$200 for Tatrix cable

EcuTeck $350 kit/cable + $295 license + RaceRom $395

so BRZ Edit -695, EcuTek - $1040.

Both allow you to to do self tuning no basemap. The ecutek has a lot more support (new factory roms posted in days), more definitions. I doubt I can afford either but the extra $300 seem well spent.

I like the $99 BRZEdit + tatrix to hold me over if they keep up with factory roms? Saves the dealer hassle to stay up to date and tuning can start when the factory rom is finalized and hopefully RomRaider/ecuflash is finalized.

@regal, you don't need the RaceRom add on for self tuning to have the same map accssibility as BRZedit.

Thank for the feed back but you lost me.

If you go to BRZ-edits webpage the self tuning version is $495.

Are you saying use the $99 version for flashing and romraider for self tuning? Isn't there a compatibility issue there?

Oh I see what you are saying use Romraider instead of racerom for the ecutek option, I've read that racerom has a lot more definitions, is that wrong?

I was on about ECUtek not BRZedit. You don't need the RaceRom add on to be able to self tune. RaceRom just predominantly gives you multi-map switching and custom maps (inc SD and traction control etc) and a few other options.

All you need for basic ECUtek tuning is the cable and license.

self tuning? You are blowig my mind here. You're saying buy the license and cable for $699 and you can self tune. If that's for real that's he way to g for me. Screw waiting n BRZedit and Ramraider definitions.

I called the dealer wanting the latest flash gave the service guy the TSB whole nine yards and he ends the conversation, " if we find nothing wrong we charge you $49.99." Here Totoyota/scion is telling them to update the flash and they still want to play that card. EcuTeck here I come.

Please confirm the self tuning with just the ecutek kit and licence I'm about to send motomike $699.

thanks

B01C roms are already defined in Rom Raider. I'm not sure what wait you are referring to.
