Capt... There could be a variety of issues... right now it's only speculation on my part...but this is what I've done so far. Mtec springs, MTL in the tranny, diff oil changed too. I have shifter bushing and the tranny mount... there was improvement, but still not fixed. Definitely the shifting is smoother after 30 minutes of driving...so I will try pentosin next... even then...I suspect the tranny floats so much that it's causing shifting issues.

The other recommendation is to change the engine mount but I won't do that...too much headache and noise to contend with. I do notice the tranny moving via the shifter when the car is moving on uneven road... I never liked the 2 piece drive shaft...it's low cost budget nonsense.

That is why I am asking if the 1 piece driveshaft will improve shifting. It's just sad for Japanese cars to have these known issues. Had I known I would have gotten a different car or stuck with my M roadster. The car would be more enjoyable if the 2nd gear nonsense was fixed.

Given how direct the linkage is to the gearbox I am suggesting that transmission movement is not the cause.
This issue has been attributed to double synchros and often resolves itself within a few kilometers but it reads like you are having more issues than most.

I very much doubt the driveshaft would change the shift feel in any instance of driving. A lighter flywheel MAY help as the engine will drop revs quicker helping slow the gearbox input shaft which in turn would help the synchros do thier job. But this would really only be evident during high RPM and fast shifts. But a light drive shaft will still be doing the same RPM as a stock one. Also a 1pce drive shaft should transmit more movement to the gearbox than a 2pce.

Have you spoken to toyota about your gearbox?

From my experience dealer doesn't do jack. If there's a reputable dealer I would consider it...otherwise I try to fix it myself. Don't matter what dealer manufacturers...I had multiple BMW dealer do bad work as well other stories I hear. Sure there are good people as well...but I have coin flip experiences...hit and miss.

I don't the synchros will break in will fix...it's got 3,000 miles on it and still the same. I hope the pentosin being lighter than MTL will fix the issue.

I really like the motion pro torque wrench adapter for that type of work:

i'm interested in the driveshaft, but i'm wondering why there doesn't seem to be any competing products on the market?

secondly, why is it that the tS BRZ has a larger drive shaft than the stock brz and this product is going in the opposite direction?

Driveshaft shop also has their CF and Aluminum version, HKS also has a CF shaft coming. As well to note if you google alternate driveshafts for these cars there are 2-3 others. As far as why the TS driveshaft goes in regards to diameter that's tough to say if I was a guessing man I would say much of aftermarket CF shafts are keeping in mind clearance on aftermarket exhaust etc. The fact they're good for 600+ whp the diameter should be of non concern.

I got mine from a different vendor but it's awesome at any speed. It deadens the vibrations coming from the back axle and the vibrations from the front aren't sent to the back either. It makes the car much more quiet and relaxed. It seems a little more eager at slow speeds or off the line and it doesn't take as much throttle for minute speed adjustments when cruising.
I love the quiet mostly.

Hello! from my ignorance of mechanical issues
a question .... OEM transmission shaft, consists of two parts and a rubber gasket ... right? why?
which is the reason why Japanese engineers (which should not be too dumb), make this piece into two parts?

They make them 2-piece from factory for the safety factor. If you experience a rear-end collision with 2-piece shaft it will collapse and fold under and away from passengers. 1 piece shaft has a greater potential to shish kabob you or a passenger in a rear end collision.

I added an aluminum shaft in conjunction with an FD swap. No calibration required for the shaft. That said I hear it clunk now and then. Generally more when throwing the car in reverse. I imagine the steel 2 piece factory one masks that.
